Diddy, Please Press "Stop"

As he proceeds, to give you what you…someone needs to snatch this guy’s du-rag with the quickness. (Word to Rodney and Dallas Penn.)

Why all the promo frenzy for his new album? YouTube, Diddy TV, MySpace, Burger King, etc. Am I the only in utter confusion here? Do the south really have that much of chokehold on hip-hop that everyone feels like they need to over-promote their album to actually shift units? Or is Diddy trying to recover all the lettuce he lost by giving Jadakiss & co their publishing?

By the way, after several foiled attempts I was finally able to peep the watermarked copy of Press Stop that landed on my desk last week. Simply put, if you’re looking up to anyone’s album to bring New York (?) back, you wound up in the wrong lane. Side A is a bowl of cherries, but Side B will keep your forward button fully employed.

And just for kicks, here’s the alleged ghostwriters’ credits for Press Stop

Track 2. We Gon’ Make It featuring Jack Knight
Written by Diddy & The Game

Track 4. The Future

> Why all the promo frenzy for his new album?

Because it actually might be good. The single is a great pop record and the joints with Nas & Cee-lo and Mary J Blige are really good hip hop records. Given Puff’s limited talents as an MC and almost total lack of credibility in that role, the quality of the music he’s coming out with is a real surprise which is why people are so excited. Dude will never challenge the best in the game for supremacy as an MC or lyricist but he does know one thing, how to bring glamor and entertainment back to hip hop.

6. Rizoh Says:

Ian, I’ll wait till you’ve heard the whole thing, then I’ll ask you what you think of it. The track with Cee-Lo & Nas (”Everything I Love”), “The Future”, “I Am”, “We Gon Make It”–all the good joints arrive early on the CD. But, most of what follows (Side B) is garbage. It’s not a terrible album, but it’s not as good as you might expect.

7. Daz Black Says:

it’s diddy whatchu expect

8. frankster04 Says:

the production is good on this album, but diddy really needs to just stick to the business side of things.

18. Magno Says:

34. esbee Says:

36. DJ Raida Says:

i thought the album was pretty terrible tbh, first joint was banging, that beat is pure fire, the nas joint was slamming as well, but the rest- i just wasnt feeling it

43. Philly4Life Says:

^exactly! wheres aasim wheres ness and babs, hell i could even use a cherri dennis album at this point

44. DAYNE Says:

I THINK CHERRI DENNIS IS ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED AND UNMARKETED TALENT TO NEVER REALLY SHINE LIKE SHE SHOULD. IF I COULD I WOULD SIGN HER TO MY COMPANY.

45. My point exactly Says:

P Diddy Puffer or what ever he wants to call him self these days, can kick rocks, I was through with puffy on making the band part III, when he made the statement “Why go to Chicago theres no talent there” but on this Press Play garbage he’s got Shawnna and Twista on it, are they not from Chicago. He’s garbage and so is Bad Boy and the sad part is that most of the new artist on his label are pretty good but we all know what the end results of their careers will be…… on some lawyers desk and in court. ATTENTION ALL ASPIRING ARTIST: Don’t sign with Bad Boy!
