In fact I believe you and the article are on the same page as far as having a genuine reason why you love hip hop MUSIC...you may have an issue with the title but like you said you haven't heard the man speak just yet...personally I'd have preferred, "why kids love hip hop" than singling out one race 'cos everyone has diff reasons for listening to hip hop MUSIC. I also thought it should've been noted by the speaker that Rap MUSIC is an offshoot of hip hop not the same thing. So the focus ought to be on RAP MUSIC...if it is to be about HIP HOP in general then DJ'ing, graf, b-boying, entrenpreneurship, fashion and other aspects of it ought to be part of the discussion.
