Akon vs. Nate Dogg: Who’s the Boss?

Snoop yanked Akon off the single version of “Boss’ Life,” despite the thug-n-b star’s impressive showing on the album version of the same song. Not to mention that Akon, (not Nate Dogg), co-wrote the track with Snoop and Dre. I find it strange and interesting at the same time. Akon, a certified hit-factory, adds commercial appeal. Nate, west coast’s most competent hook-supplier, adds authenticity.

But who’s the real boss on “Boss’ Life”? Who sang it better?

The results are in. Nate out-Konned Akon on his own sh*t.
-Nate: 14
-Akon: 4

For the record, only other time these 2 appeared on the same album was on Obie Trice’s Second Round’s on Me.

3. M Says:

Akon

4. Rizoh Says:

Akon 2
Nate Dogg 1

5. Ivan Says:

It’s close, but I’m goin’ with Nate simply because his presence is felt more than Akon’s. Then again, ‘Kon kinda rides the beat a lil better than Nate…..

All in all, I’ll pick Nate D O dizzle Gizzle, but like I said, it’s close..

6. Vik Says:

nate d-o-double-g

period

7. DC Says:

I’m going with Nate Dogg.

Someone needs to tell Akon to open his mouth when he sings, instead of singing out his nose.

8. esbee Says:

Akon is great but this song was a better fit for Nate Dogg…he adds a west coast flava that comes natural..

9. Rizoh Says:

Akon - 2
Nate Dogg - 5

10. A Says:

umm i would say akon

11. IVINE Says:

it gotta be NATE

12. Roc_Representa Says:

Akon wins. He brings more melody to his version.

13. khal Says:

its funny when people call this a more west coast vibe, seeing as busta rhymes used this on “everybody rise” back on the ELE lp…

NATE DOGG FTW, nonetheless.

i’m guess Snoop went with Nate on the single b/c he had Akon on the last single? that i wanna love you… shit gets repetitive, no?

14. Southern Fried Says:

I like Nate Doggs version more only cause I’m tired of Akon. Akon does sound nice on the track but he needs to be ghost for awhile (like Nates been)

15. rg Says:

nate d-o-g-g.

16. Rizoh Says:

Akon - 4
Nate - 9

My sources tell me SRC didn’t clear Akon for the single. I like to think that Snoop didn’t want to have 2 singles out at the same time with Akon.

Nate’s winning this by landslide.

nate sounded vicious on this joint

18. RAE Says:

absolutely NATE no doubt

19. Say Says:

Nate Dogg all the way. Makes me reminiscent of the Doggystyle days. He just sounds right with the content and beat, like you said, authenticity.

20. James Says:

I’m going with Nate. Akon’s good, but I’m just not feeling him on this track.

21. david gonzalez Says:

thats nates real voice…akon sings thru some lame machine…gotta go with nate

22. Moe Says:

Akon all day

23. M Says:

konvict

24. Nero Says:

Nate.

25. Gfunkking Says:

without a doubt nate, nate brings charachter to this song. akons kinda jus singin an you don really care what hes sayin ya know? man i cant believe snoop did this though. like even on another site he was interviewd an asked “do you think akon is takin nate’s place?” an snoop does this.i doubt anythin will happen but i wonder how ‘kons feelin ya know

26. Rizoh Says:

^Gfunkking, I really don’t see anything crazy about Snoop’s decision to go with Nate. Snoop already did “I wanna Luv You” with Akon. Besides, Kon will still get credited for the song since he’s on the original version.

Again, this could be some industry politics bullshit–Akon supposedly didn’t get cleared by SRC and whatnot.

you already know akon his da best
