Houston, We Have a Championship

hakeem-and-yao.jpg

Scarface – “Never”

Scarface who once said he’d never un-retire is back to saying ‘never say never.’ Can’t complain though, hip-hop could use a Brad Jordan album at this point. It’s obvious he has a new album in the works, even though the folks at the Black Oasis ignored all my inquiries on the issue. But that’s by the way…

Add Face’s rebound to the Steve Francis comeback and you’re in for an H-Town championship this year.

Video: Ja Rule ft. Joi – Body (Preview)

Not for the faint of heart (aka NSFW)

This is why Ja is hot (no Larry Craig). He always does something sooo different from what everyone else is doing. Hip-hop is alive and well.

Lupe Dumbs It Down

lupe.jpg

Lupe tries to make it rain the old fashioned way

“Make a song for the b*tches, n***a (dumb it down)/We don’t care about the weather, n***a (dumb it down)”…
“You putting me to sleep (dumb it down)/ That’s why you ain’t poppin’ in the streets (dumb it down)/You ain’t winning awards (dumb it down)/Robots and skateboards? (dumb it down)”

Throughout the song Lupe runs off on a stream-of-consciousness tangent about how prolific he is, explaining the metaphors as he goes. It’s as if he’s spoonfeeding his thoughts to the average listener without necessarily compromising his lyrics. Wordplay is ridic.

Produced by the ever improving Soundtrakk and supposedly taken from Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool.

Kanye ft Busta Rhymes & Weezyianna – CTMN Remix

weezy.jpg

“Let ‘em hate though, I’m on my way to the bank. L.M.A.O.” – Weezyianna

I almost feel bad for 50, even little Wayne is kicking sand in his eye. Not to mention that Graduation has been getting rave reviews in the streets. Poor Curtis. Reminds me of back when Prodigy was everyone’s laughing stock, getting dissed by both Jay and Nas. I wonder what all the G-Unit Stanleys are going to do about this. Better yet, I wonder how many copies of Curtis Interscope plans on buying to keep Fif closer to No.3, cause you can’t tell Kenny Chesney nothin’ either.

Btw, Busta doesn’t belong on this beat.

(Shout out to DJ Skee & DJ Reflex for this remix.)

>>The devil made him do it. Surprised they didn’t blame this one on hip-hop. [C & D]

>>This cop plans to release a rap CD. I kid you not. [HHC]

GZA to Perform Entire Liquid Swords Album

gza.jpg

Some lucky bastards will get to see GZA rip through his 13-track masterpiece, Liquid Swords, on September 15th. Rain or shine, GZA will rock the stage at Brooklyn’s McCarren Park Pool for a benefit show to assist the Open Space Alliance of North Brooklyn. In case you’re wondering, OSA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to irrelevant duties like improving existing parks and acquiring new parkland in Brooklyn.

If you’re one of those lucky bastards, head on over to ticketmaster now and spend the best $19 of your life. Be sure to bring back some pics.
