I don’t really like 2 use the word in my songs but in the 1st song on my page I do and it again has 2 do with context. I am MUCH more offended by Three-Six Mafia [4 example] and everything they stand 4 including that God-4saken song “Its Hard Out Here For A Pimp” which actually won an Academy Award. (e.g. serius jones, grafh, styles p, jadakiss) but using the n-word is just a huge deal. in this situation, everyone’s gon be like it’s cool cause the context it is used in but in many other situations, everyone goes nuts cause someone uses the n-word. i don’t use the n-word.

He, and other non-Black cats like Immortal Technique (why he was even mentioned in comments to this song I have no idea), have been called this word, or variations of it, their entire lives. It may have had a some-what different meaning (is “nigger lover” any less offensive than “nigger?”), but it was the same god damned word. Who decides that he doesn’t have the right to use it in this context?

1) I can’t understand the difference between Nigger and Nigga? First of all “Nigga” came from the word “Nigger” spoken by the slaves of the time as they were not wellspoken and educated, simple as that. And when they spoke it, it was like the only term they knew to refer to each other as cause the slave masters didnt call them anything else. It doesnt matter what reason why a person uses it, black or non black, it is still an ugly word and with a such a horrible history. However, I am sympathic to artists and only real artists who use the term to describe certain things about culture and history which I believe what Bill is trying to do. Immortal Technique is speaking from his heart and he has “true” knowledge of self, I can’t say anything bad about Imm. Tech other than that he doesn’t have accurate knowledge of the bible but that’s another debate. I’m half white and half peruvian (my peruvian side is half full black or negrito as they call it, and half native, tho there is hispanic blood from someone raping one of my ancestors) My mom grew up in Philly, hella fucked up hood, and her sisters story is like that of Uncle Howie. Anyway, if you notice, Bill is not saying the word in a demeaning way towards a black person, nor is he saying he’s a “nigga”. He says:

I also don’t agree with that person that said that latinos can’t say “nigga,” my reason being because many blacks have white in them too. Blacks women were taken advantage of by whites, same as the natives and blacks in Latin America. In my hood, almost nobody associates “nigga” with “nigger” anymore. Its use has evolved so much. I am very light skinned because of my mom being Irish, but my black friends realize that when I use it, I am not attempting to oppress them, but rather embrace them. I have heard it so much while growing up that it has become engrained in me. I also go to a private school for rich kids since I got a full scholarship (high school) and when I hear them say it, they’re not sincere. Immortal Technique is sincere when he uses it, but these kids are not. They use it jokingly.

It’s all about context. Ill Bill is showing how he was called a white nigger as an insult and how he was treated like one, hes not calling a black person a “nigger.” He’s showing how the association of hip hop with “niggers” has become so widespread. Also with the use of “nigga” i think its less of an empowerment argument, and more of a simple fact that it has evolved and become common place. I hear it where I live as much as I hear “bro” where I go to school. Most kids don’t really think of it as related to nigger much.
