Ali Says:
Yo, I love the version with Legend because it’s so much more soulful. I read an interview where he talked about these lyrics and why he used them again. It’s a dope song and the concept is crazy with the metaphors, it needed to be on an official album, so I don’t blame him for that, but I wish he used the original.

K.G Says:
The old version has got soul and fits the rhymes better, but I gotta admit that the new version with Chris Martin has a sick beat and the piano in it is dope.

jsunny Says:
“Coming Home” definitely. There’s so much soul in it (word to Ali).
And I hate it when Kanye – and other rappers – recycle lyrics. That’s the reason I hated on “Bring Me Down” from Late Registration cos he was spittin the same lyrics he had on “I See Now” wit Little Brother and Consequence. He needs to come with as many lyrics as he can beats!

Enigmatik Says:
The first version is the better version…’ye has taken a ton of those mixtape rhymes and put ‘em on his full length lps since he got in the game. lazy emceeing

dpgc Says:
I’m in a bit of a haze because I just hopped out of bed so I can’t remember the song titles but I’ve heard Kanye rap about dykes and Klondikes more than a few times as well.

T2 Says:
Your right about Kanye I seen a you tube clip of him freestyling to Jay-Z and the same verse ended up on the bounce off of Jay-Z blueprint 2 album!
BTW Homecoming >>>>>>> coming home.

SomeOne Says:
the original is better

Austin Walker Says:
100 times over Homecoming is superior. His flow on it is better, the beat is magic fire. And while Legend is a great singer, Chris Martin provides a sense of nostalgia instead of a sense of regret – and that’s what this song is about. It’s not just about soul, it’s about pride, and while Coming Home doesn’t have Homecoming does.

Rick. Says:
When I hear mixtape rhymes appear on different arrangements on the official albums, it’s just like the mixtape version was a demo or an earlier version. I don’t mind it much. That said, the John Legend version is really damn good. Although I like the Chris Martin one as well. Different takes. Different emotions.

KK Says:
Homecoming trumps Coming home, the voices start to get annoying in “coming home” indeed very soulful but the sample gets annoying to me.
although
Legend > Martin
Ye put martin on the album to add to his HUGE non-hip hop fan base
|
| 11. |
Nahshon Says:
Big fan of legend over martin but i definitely enjoy Homecoming as a song as well.
I wish he could come up with orginal rhymes all the time but I’ve gotta admit that I enjoy hearing his flows on other beats.

Nils Says:
Homecoming is way more fresher and matches the lyrics. I agree with 8. Austin Walker

Big Huto Says:
How can you compare the raw, artistic, soulful original with some wack, offkey coldplay version of the same song??
the verse was meant for the orginial beat, and wen comparing both songs its obvious it belongs with the original track!

moneda Says:
“Coming Home” by a landslide. Christ I hate the new version.

Swag Diesel Says:
It’s this farcical mentality of “not writing down lyrics”, which totally bamboozles me.

M.Z. Says:
Ye and Legend just need to redo this now and it would be sick. But he did the right thing putting Homecoming on the album. Coming Home doesn’t fit sonically (even though it’s the better version.)

Luy Says:
Coming home is nice, but I dont understand how U can compare with Homecoming…this is an amazing song, its in my top 5 of the Graduation album, its fire!!!

K Factor Says:
the best would be john legend singing exactly what chris martin is. the beat on the new one is so good but john legend is so much better than chris martin

coming home is just powerful. It reaches to soul and elevates to a state of joy. The other one is just a catchy white pop rap song

Anonymous Says:
the old one has heart, but honestly people, lets go for the tailored look of homecoming instead of the t-shirt and jeans of Coming home. The voice in the original sample gets annoying and honestly the elton jon sample of homecoming os alot smoother and alot more sophisticated, than the original. Time to step ya taste up. Homecoming all day.

Gotta go with the original…Ye obviously got better as an emcee and since homecoming came out over four years later, his command on the mic is better on that record. But overall, I jus like the feel of coming home. Dope ass beat!
