Jay-Z - Blue Magic

Alas, Hov’s new single from American Gangster (NO DJ). This is one of those songs that’ll take repeated spins to absorb. Simply put, this is street-hop.

Chris Says: September 20th, 2007 at 9:28 pm I’m kinda feeling it. It’s definitely better than Show Me What You Got/Change Clothes/Bonnie & Clyde. It’s not Hollywood/CEO Hov. |

Ali Says: September 20th, 2007 at 9:59 pm Yo man, I just saw you site and great minds think alike. I also did a “Jay-Z” and “blue” search in Google and got the same results back. Nice! It’s a little slow, but I think it’ll make a lot more sense once we see the movie. I’m just glad to hear Jay in any capacity. He’s telling a cool ass story, forget that club shit. |

esbee Says: September 20th, 2007 at 11:05 pm I guess its just the lyricist in me, his inner rhyme schemes on verse 1 - WOW… he’s just rapping on the beat and sounding like himself.. |

Ivan Says: September 20th, 2007 at 11:05 pm “It’s not Hollywood/CEO Hov.” How is it not? ‘Show Me What You Got’ was Jay’s boycott Cristal, buy Budweiser song. This one will inevitably feature a GMC SUV-fest…lol. It’s the same ol’ “Hollywood/CEO Hov” if you ask me. |

esbee Says: September 20th, 2007 at 11:06 pm Eh Ivan please listen again…this “blue magic” song is pretty street content-wise.. |

Bundy Says: September 21st, 2007 at 3:51 am “This one will inevitably feature a GMC SUV-fest” No way GMC or any other company is going to piggy-back on this song. The content is too crazy… Did you even LISTEN to the song??? Are you hearing what he’s talking about? This is the content that makes companies NOT want to do business with artists. “I blame Regan for makin me into a Monster / I blame Oliver North & the Iran Contra / I ran Contraband that they sponsered” You tellin me that’s gonna be in a GMC commercial? Get a grip. But I guarantee you this will be in the clubs soon. |

Ali Says: September 21st, 2007 at 10:22 am “I blame Regan for makin me into a Monster / I blame Oliver North & the Iran Contra / I ran Contraband that they sponsored” You tellin me that’s gonna be in a GMC commercial? Get a grip. co-sign what Bundy said, the only “Hollywood/CEO” thing going on here is the release of the album in part with the movie, which is just genius, but I think the content is going to be all street. No corporation is going to come within 100 yards of this album. I think this song will make much more sense once we see the movie and understand what Blue Magic means in the actual story. It’s growing on me … but I don’t see it in the clubs, street radio yes, club no. |
