American Gangster Snippets

jay-zamericangangster.jpg

In case you only came to find out if Lil Wayne is really on American Gangster, the answer is yes and no. Other than that, I won’t sit here and pretend I’ve formed a judgment on the album based on 30-second snippets. In any case, it’s worth a listen if you’re a fan of good music. Check it out after the gap.

All the tracks sound soulfull and he has his old flow back and his lyrically ability is always on point.

It is a fucking classic Jay-Z is the G.O.A.T. haters can’t tell me nothing the album is incredible.

2. BS Says:

Jay shoulda grabbed some better beats for his dope flows

3. Adam Says:

For the fools that are about to say how Jay-Z has gotten his old flow back or his pre-Kingdom Come skill for that matter, compare “Ignorant Shit” to the rest of the album. That track’s been out for years, and even in the snippets, it’s easy to tell the difference in skill. Just like “Lost Ones” on Kingdom Come.

4. ignite mindz Says:

uh oh, a competitor for Blueprint? Cant judge off 30 seconds but sounds very promising. I hated black album when they did the snippet thing but turned out pretty good.

5. Rellextra Says:

*Holds his tongue and patiently waits for the album so he can punch people in the face while listening to it.

6. Rizoh Says:

Adam, are you suggesting that “Lost Ones” was the standout track on Kingdom Come?

7. Darkpoet Says:

I don’t understand how you can judge an album off of 30 seconds when those could easily be the better part of each song. His old flow? I don’t hear it.

8. Magoo Says:

I don’t know how or why anyone would or could compare this to The Blueprint off 30 second snippets. Sounds good but can we please get the whole album first because some of these snippets just aren’t enough for anyone judge on.

9. skimaskway Says:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And the kid says all of this without even hearing the full album yet.

Rapper’ dickriding is a disgusting and prevelant disease among the youth today. Rap groupies make me sick.

T2 At least listen to the album fully before you procede to pick up the pink pom poms and sing “jay he’s the best, better than the rest. he’s our man..”

10. Big Huto Says:

to be fair im really feeling these snippets, it sounds pretty ill, as long as HOV brings the flow+rhymes, this shud be a fucking crazy album!

“blue magic” does sound really out of place on this!!

11. Adam Says:

No, I’m saying that “Lost Ones” was recorded before Kingdom Come (pretty sure it was left off the Black Album), and I think he flows better on that track than the majority of songs on the cd. It is a good track though.

12. Rizoh Says:

I thought his flow on that was choppy. He was leaning on the beat too much. Other than that, Lost One was a banger.

13. smudge Says:

based on thirty second snippets it does sound good but we can only wait til this shit drops. read a nas quote saying, “it’s a crazy album,i’m really proud of him. it made me proud.” lets hope that it makes us proud. da roc is in the building! hov

14. esbee Says:

It sounds very promising, but I still have a problem with his flow at diff points of the snippets, I think I *get* what he’s trying to do but I don’t think its working for each and every aspect of the music..however I’ll wait till the full length drops, based on this I think its worth my 11 or 13.99 as the case may be.

As far as beats go, I’m loving everything I’m hearing…

15. Rizoh Says:

I have to agree with esbee, way better beat selection this time.

16. SomeOne Says:

I can’t wait to hear the full version of this album. Conceptually it sounds ill, but is it just me or does that track with Wayne sound wack as fuck and out of place? Just my opinion.

17. Warm Old English taste like Piss Says:

Truth be told you canr really judge a album off a 7min 30sec snippet. But just hearing the the beats, the flow the lyrics, gives me a a good vibe. thats all ima say about that till Nov. 6……. Secondly its really a bunch of people that really dont know wut hip-hop is. First of all jay dont make bad music, This might be another CD that goes unapreciated, Just like kingdom come. Now KC wasn’t know classic but it was a very-very solid album IMO. If your not old enough to buy Liquior, you gone probaly say this shit weak beacause Jay-z is 40. Thats a bama ass statement. like this shit got a age limit. Its a proven fact minors dont appreciate great music. not even just minors even grown ppl that just dont comprehend. but you cant plz everybody.
“YOU CANT FEED BABIES STEAK”
p.s
forgive my spelling aint been to school in almost 6years

18. Frost Says:

Wow the Hov dick riders are out in force.

He better come with some harder flow on Success than that snippet because if not Nas is going to ether the boy .. again. Party life sounds like he brought in a ghostwriter, from pre-school to bring some new flavor to his shit. If that is a Weezy hook on Hello Brooklyn 2.0, firstly he is a goof for using a Weezy hook and secondly its the worst Weezy hook of 2007. (Just slightly behind ‘Get high rule the world’ on Da Drought 3)

However Roc Boys is a tight track, so maybe the lable heads are just retarded and used shitty parts of the tracks as snippets. A few decent sounding beats, so hopefully when Dre mixes the album he can make it worth a listen.

Based on the snippets, I think I’ll wait for Cam’ron’s new shit … (Hate me now!)

19. Adam Says:

I see what Rizoh said about his flow on “Lost Ones,” but I think it shows how elastic it is. Now, his flow consists of him emphasizing multiple syllables to show that he can rhyme well; he used to let his words speak for themselves in their rhymes

20. hiphopb Says:

hov is pulling a jordan thats all i got too say about that

21. fivemicfelon Says:

don’t understand how ya’ll keep mentioning his pre-kingdom flow when he’s had the same flow since blueprint 2 at least! 30 secs aint doing shit for me, imma cop the album and check it out

22. Frost Says:

hov is pulling a jordan thats all i got too say about that

^^
And by this you mean trying to come back to the game but being too old and slow to keep up with the rest? How many championships did Jordan win after coming out of retirement .. remind me I seem a little foggy.

23. MAXPOWER Says:

adam how the fuck wuz lost ones a black album left off????????? he speaks about his break up with dame and the fact that his nephew died a few months before? damnnn y dont u shut ur mouth instead of sayin a bung of nonsens….and yea looks liek that album is gonna be ill…and yea kingdom come was ill as well…

24. Frost Says:

and yea looks liek that album is gonna be ill…and yea kingdom come was ill as well…

^^

Kingdom come was his worst album, I will however agree that this one looks about as bad.

25. Vulture Says:

I think it sounds promising and the beats are fire. I was already going to buy it, and this certainly cements that.
I’m not saying the album is going to be great or even good, but I’m saying based on this and the previews, I’m definitely interested.
And KC, while not his best effort wasn’t awful. It’s kind of refreshing to see rappers actually mature, and speak on that. If you keep the subject fresh the content should follow.

26. Rizoh Says:

Kingdom Come wasn’t his worst. i know that album had a bunch of shitty beats, but damn. His lyrics and concepts were on point for the most part, just the delivery and production, and oh yeah, those two weak songs that ruined it.

That said, here’s a breakdown of Jay’s best albums in order:
RD
Blueprint
Vol 1
Black Album
Vol 2
Vol 3
The Dynasty
Kingdom Come
Blueprint 2

Come to think of it, this is a great idea for a list. I’ll see what I come up with.

27. Adam Says:

oh ya to MAXPOWER:
http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.4591/title.jay-talks-dre-detox-and-beyonce

Dre had a beat made; Jay-Z says Beyonce is 23 at the time and they’re “old feelings”. Eat balls.

28. Frost Says:

Riz, if Blueprint two had been a single disc and all the filler had been cut out it would have been > Kingdom Come.

29. ISAIDIT Says:

yo check out http://www.clmnews.com/Entertainment_Sub_Pages/People/TI.html. this site has pages dedicated to hip-hop majors such as 50, Jay-Z, & T.I. with news updates around the clock!

30. was u saying something? Says:

I know its only 30 second snippets but not feeling it. Its ok. Decent. Sounds better than his last joint but nothing like the reviews I read on it! Shit had me expecting more. I forgot most the cats who reviews I read were somewhat bias, Most of them rarely have anything negative to say about Jay. They loved Kingdom Come. Wonder how many of them still play that album on the regular?

I’m looking forward to hearing the album in full but these snippets were enough to hold me over. I’m no longer fiendin for it to drop.

31. was u saying something? Says:

SomeOne Says:
“is it just me or does that track with Wayne sound wack as fuck and out of place?”

^^Its just u. personally thats one that stood out and i was feelin..BUT i was listening to it as a wayne track ..once Jay comes on then it just might seem out of place but the snippet with just wayne sounds hot to me…the production on it is nice!

32. Lexdiggy Says:

I pay no attention to these fake ass critics that know nothing about the mindframe of an artist like Jay-Z. Half of you motherfuckas that are hating are from a different era and you will not understand half of the shit Jay-Z talks about. Part of the reason so many people outside of the east coast hate Hov is because you can’t understand half the shit he say so you dismiss it and jump on some Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane shit cause they talk like little children. Jay-Z is like a porfessor at an Ivy Leauge University and 90% of the other rappers can’t get in and stuck at Community College.

Remember Reasonable Doubt was dismissed by the masses when it first came out. So was In My Lifetime Vol. 1. But once he slowed it down for you fuckers on Hard Knock Life niggas started jocking dicks and throwing ROC signs up. I grew up in the 80’s so everything HOV says reaches me and the niggas I ran with in the DMV (DC Maryland VA for you kids out there). If you young kids can’t appreciate what Hov is doing then stick with them Now and Later rappers that you are so used to, but don’t throw stones at Hov.

33. Lexdiggy Says:

Fuckin’ around I almost forgot to put in my 2cents on the album. That Shit Hello Brooklyn and Success sound like they are the hardest tracks on the album those are the ones I’m waiting to hear. The others that caught my ear is Sweet i know and Say. But like other before me have stated you can’t really judge this with only 30 second snippets.

30’s the new Twenty

34. was u saying something? Says:

“Jay-Z is like a porfessor at an Ivy Leauge University and 90% of the other rappers can’t get in and stuck at Community College.”

Get tha fuk outta here with that bullshit!
Stop thinkin that muthafuckas who aren’t feelin Jay aren’t smart enough to comprehend his shit. Thats a myth that u need to get past. I love Jay. I grew up in the 80s too but doesn’t mean I still love his new shit the same as his old shit. If u do good for u but expressing an honest opinion isn’t hating r throwing stones.

35. White Says:

It’s so sad that blacks will continue to influence their people to be an AMERICAN GANGSTERS. That’s why whites will always be superior. Jay-Z is doing the same thing as most black guys do destroy one another’s life in-order to rise to the top.

36. ]ProfitInMyPocketDotCom[ Says:

It’s so sad that whites like that will continue to hide and be jealous of and blame blacks for their problems.
White people have been AMERICAN GANGSTERS gangsters too.
That’s why blacks will always have nothing to worry about.
For example, Jeffrey Skilling-(the white man who raided millions of retirement accounts from americans) has done the same thing as most white guys
have done to destroy lives in order to rise to the top.
