Krs man, what are you talking about. Curtis was wack I love you man but be real…And that thing about NaS is too bad. The Beat was definitly 100% jacked. I dunno, NaS’s lyrics do have a similar concept to Wordsmith’s. If one of the greatest really can’t come up with a concept for a song on his own anymore its a sure sign that hip hop really is dead.

2. Rizoh Says:

i’m about to do a compare and contrast post on that nas/wordsmith stuff.

3. Chris Says:

Curtis is boom bap? Dear Lord….

4. Ivan Says:

^ He wasn’t saying he liked Curtis. All he said was that he preferred that heavy sound as opposed to ‘Ye’s “experimentation.”

5. Big Fonz Says:

“We don’t wear white shade around here!”

Hahaha! He’s right though.

6. esbee Says:

Curtis is boom bap? LOL, come on Kris..I mean objectively I get what he’s saying..picking the lesser of two “evils?” well its whatever at this point who cares? 50 lost, Kanye won and all’s right and well with the hip hop machine…

Only reason I don’t buy Wordsmith’s claim is for the fact that he argued his concept is similar to Nas’s and I’m like how is that even possible when Nas is clearly speakong in himself and how he came up as an MC in Queens vs. Wordsmith talking about the state of hip hop? These ideas aren’t even in the same climate much less stratosphere.

7. Nils Says:

Teacher KRS I have to disagree, 50’s album sucks.

Ow ow look at all the famous features and productions on it’s own. Man they all suck ! From akon to eminem it all sucks ! No content at all.

OK hater haters , i’m hating. But it’s true …

50 still the marketing man, no hatin on that

8. Boogz Says:

You might as well go ahead and put BronxRap.com down with your team of blogs.

9. CommishCH Says:

EPMD will be on the Honors soon enough. I was a bit surprised Snoop and Missy were in it this year. They need a criteria for honorees. Maybe 20 years since you first dropped?

10. WTF Says:

AHHHHHHH WHAT IS THIS FUCKERY.

KRS JUST MADE ME UPSET WITH THAT DUMB TALK.

ROMEO… ROMEO ??????????/ WHY THE FUCKKKKKKKK ARE YOU SHIRTLESS IN A RAP BOOTH.

I’M DISTRAUGHT. AND EPMD DON’T NEED A GAY VH1 NOTHIN THEY LEGENDS FUCK A COON AWARD SHOW HONORS. FUCK OUTTA HERE.

11. sooch Says:

No EPMD? I was just thinking that as I was watching the whole New Jack Swing/Missy Elliot disgrace.

They should have inducted the Native Tongue as a collective if you ask me. Had it not been for the JB’s and De La…The Native Tongue influence is too far reaching to even try to discuss in this forum.

Should be even expect VH1 to honor the right Hip-Hop artists? I’m not mad. I haven’t seen ATCQ performance in so long that I didn’t even give a shit towards the end.

12. Walter Says:

I think one of the worst things about hip-hop now is the jacking of flows…

How many people have I heard using Lil Wayne’s flow?!?!?! (of all people’s flows to use, Wayne?!?!?)

13. HHF Says:

You know, I said the same thing in a bronxrap post.

I like Kanye’s album and it definetly got more play, but technically 50 cent album is closer to traditional hiphop.

With that said, again, Im more into the new genre chamging stuff myself so its all good.

14. J to the AAP Says:

“I like Kanye’s album and it definetly got more play, but technically 50 cent album is closer to traditional hiphop.”

That’s certainly true, but by no means does that say anything about the quality. I’d have to disagree with the teacher as well, I’d pick Graduation over Curtis any day.

15. Darkpoet Says:

Wordsmith’s concept is just a play-off of many songs that share the same ideas of reminiscing over hip hop. Come on, Common did it in 94′. Different approach, but same concept.
