Adam Says: October 11th, 2007 at 12:55 am I don’t know. Jay-Z has lost his flow in my book. This sounds like a re-hashed Kingdom Come with drugs instead of fame as the topic. I love Jay-Z, but when he’s not flowing that well, he’s not that good. |
| 12. |
ian Says: October 11th, 2007 at 2:12 am Happy b’day, Riz. This track is aight. “Dead Prez III” sounds like it might be more than OK though. |

| 15. |
Roc_Representa Says: October 11th, 2007 at 7:40 am It’s produced by Puffy and The Hitmen…I know, I couldn’t believe it either. |
| 16. |
Gezzius Says: October 11th, 2007 at 7:44 am …Also sounds a little like a fela kuti sample – don’t you think? Quality. |

Gezzius Says: October 11th, 2007 at 7:46 am Diddily???! – nice! |
| 18. |
khal Says: October 11th, 2007 at 7:51 am why do people get surprised about the hitmen producing good tracks? as if you cats weren’t rocking to “the benjamins” or most of puffy’s “no way out” cd. come on now! this track is bananas btw. |
| 19. |
Gezzius Says: October 11th, 2007 at 8:03 am I’ve bopped my head to many a Hitmen tune but c’mon…they are hit and miss and been a bit quiet of late… Just giving props for sounding a little fresh! And props to Hov for knowing how to pick tracks that fit a concept he has and then riding over them seamlessly. |

Purpose Says: October 11th, 2007 at 10:26 am This track is hot, I do not know how people dislike it. The production and flow is hot. |
| 25. |
esbee Says: October 11th, 2007 at 10:36 am Ppl dislike it as Rizoh said ‘cos they either a. don’t like Jay or b. they set incredibly high standards for Jay which even when met still find a way to not like it.. The track is excellent prod by the Hitmen and the sample is from a brass band..with some live instruments added in for good measure.. wth is Ivan..my fellow Roc-ateer? |
| 26. |
Rizoh Says: October 11th, 2007 at 10:55 am Yeah, Ivan is excited as hell about this track. Matter fact, he was the one who alerted me on the leak. Well worth the excitement. |
| 27. |
big ra Says: October 11th, 2007 at 11:12 am the hitmen got alot of this good production in hip hop going in the first place….and it looks like Jay is about to put this bullshit rap in it’s place |
| 28. |
Purpose Says: October 11th, 2007 at 11:34 am I guess I just cant see how this wouldn’t meet any standard people set. Especially because this clearly wasn’t meant to sell records (although obviously he wants to sell them). This doesn’t sound nearly as formulaic as so many of his previous projects. |
| 29. |
Big Homie Says: October 11th, 2007 at 11:50 am LOL at your scratching Bleek off. Bleek would be cool. I could see Kanye doing a verse if there was a remix |
| 30. |
esbee Says: October 11th, 2007 at 12:36 pm @Purpose: you know the fabric that creates Jay-hate is typically void of any sort of objectivity and pretty much stems from a jealousy, a wish that the haters fav rapper would take Jay’s place…when it’ll more than likely never happen.. It’s cool tho..this song is a great song and from a lyrical perspective very impressive, like Riz said with double entendres everywhere..Jay seems to be going in that direction more so these days of late.. |

reggae_dustbin Says: December 11th, 2007 at 12:53 am for the record this is the sample that was used and the production team dug deep to find it. For the whole of the song they essentially built off the sample and did some work on it, but left it completely unchanged at the riff that appears at the end of the track. Maybe intentionally as an homage to where they got it?! Either way, when i figured it out it was a trip that’s for sure. anyways, the sample is: Glen Brown: Tel Aviv Drums Recorded in the early 70’s with in Kingston Jamaica, King Tubby behind the boards… epic… 2 re-releases out there. 2004 Trojan Records: also appears on 2005 Hot Pot Records peace crate diggers… |
