The Best Hip-Hop Song of 2007?

071.jpg

Critics might tell you otherwise but the truth remains that hip-hop had a good run this year. As you’ve probably noticed, that makes it hard to narrow the year’s best albums down to three. From the looks of it though, American Gangster and Graduation are the favorites among The Rap Up readers. More on that later.

So, here’s the million dollar question: If you could pick just one song as the Best Hip-Hop Song of 2007, what would it be?

4. Rizoh Says:

The entire Blue Scholars album was slept on.

5. yaboy Says:

Damn this is a tough one man…

Joe Budden has had no official songs since he’s only dropping a mixtape but some of the leaked tracks have been pure lava…

the ghostface track ‘Barrel Brothers’ with the styles verse was a hot song…

kanye’s ‘flashing lights’ is also my shit…

6. Adam Says:

Nas “Surviving the Times”

7. JJ Says:

I would have to say “international players anthem” - that remix made a great song into a classic….

I gotta go with Common’s “Start The Show”. I knew Kanye could cook up some crazy beats but he really surprised me with this one.

Honorable mention -

Brother Ali’s “Pedigree”.

24. T2 Says:

LOL @ stronger that song was no way the best song this year their are way better songs than that. That wasnt even Kanye’s best song this year.

25. Mx18 Says:

Jay-Z - No Hook
Pharoahe Monch - The Trilogy
Chamillionaire - Evening News

26. Joel W Says:

Kanye’s best was Goodlife I think, which has to be up there for me.

The biggest problem this year is that there were a number of really good songs that weren’t bangers, and a lot of bangers that weren’t great lyrically. For my favorite rap song of the year, I want both. I guess Roc Boys would have to be up there for me since it really has the most of each. Pharoahe’s Let’s Go too.

27. rg Says:

i’m surprised i’m the first to post the obligatory stupid answers but here they go….

50 cent- amusement park
soulja boy- soulja boy tell em!

in all honesty though, i’m gonna have to second chamillionaire’s joint- can’t let you down. the original was nice, the texas takeover remix was hot.
