Let's just say that Dr. King was pro-life and would not support someone who supports the worst form of abortion, partial birth abortion. Also, in many of Dr. King's speeches, he spoke on equal rights for all, not just blacks. He would also support and chear on successful people, especially blacks. The focus of his movement was that there was an even playing ground or an equal opportunity to all. Obama does not celebrate success. Individuals are basically encouraged NOT to be successful or you will be taxed to death so he can "SPREAD THE WEALTH". So, I guess I will make sure I don't try to be successful. I will remain content in being low income for the rest of my life so I won't become the Devil because I am successful. Oh, and by the way, I am an African American Single Mother....

John Edwards:

He's shpaed the debate by bringing health care and poverty back into US Politics. Dont forget Martin Luther King was a self-described democratic socialist/marxist-humanist, he had a commitment to social justice.

That being said, Obama's certainly inspiring. His politics are great, just his policies are watered down.

letter from MLK III to Edwards expressing admiration for his campaign: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/01/mlk_iii_to_edwards_my_father_w.html
