Probably what ?uesto and co envisioned when they wrote “Birthday Girl.”
The girl in red shoes could use a couple of cheeseburgers.

Quibian Salazar-Moreno Says: March 11th, 2008 at 5:18 pm Well, the song is definitely not targeting the streets. But a Birthday party in the suburbs with a bunch of hipsters and Lily Allen wannabes? Sounds about right… |

Ninoy Brown Says: March 11th, 2008 at 9:13 pm After hearing “75 Bars” and “Get Busy”, I thought The Roots were going to give us a raw ass album. Then they drop this bubblegum fake ass Gym Class Heroes track. Disapointed. |

Rizoh Says: March 11th, 2008 at 9:44 pm I’m not a big fan of the song either, but The Roots are in a tough situation. After the dropped Game Theory, which was an excellent album, I stumbled on an article where the writer criticized them for not making songs that can appeal to a mass audience, something to that effect. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. |

ian Says: March 11th, 2008 at 11:47 pm #4 above = a f-cking idiot! How much great music has the Roots given you over the years and this one song elicits this reaction?? I’ve enjoyed alternately sh-tting on and celebrating these dudes over the years and I was ready to sh-t on this track too, but I actually kind of like it! |

Vulture Says: March 13th, 2008 at 1:22 am It isn’t their best track, but I mean, everybody has to eat, and the Roots deserve as much success as they can get. |
