You’re an ordinary thief

MTV Against Piracy ad. [Props: adsoftheworld]

“You are an ordinary thief, if you’re listening to illegally downloaded music.” - MTV

Oh, the hypocrisy. All this from a network that doesn’t give a damn about music.

Yea, until music goes back to the 90’s where a good single almost guaranteed a good album, shit nowatdays sucks. I still cop cds, but not before listening to them.

when mtv stops having weekend long marathons of “so you think you can dance”, “america’s top model”, “real world” and whatever bullshit hyperdrama drivel they show, i’ll go back to watching them play videos.

oh, and they need to step up their variety game on their mtv hits/mtv jams channels. mtv hits plays the same shows 2-3 times a day. how many times must i see alicia keys’ playlist?!

17. J to the AAP Says:

I still buy a lotta music but this ad pisses me off. CD’s were overpriced for years. Over here in The Netherlands you had to pay 20 euros or over for most new cd’s, since sales started dropping for new albums prices dropped to 14 to 18 euros. You get many older releases for 8 or 9. So they charged 22 euros for a CD but it’s still profitable for 15? Or even 8 after a while and it’s sold a few copies? Who’s the ordinary thief again?

18. J to the AAP Says:

I’m with Rick Rubin on this one, when he took his position as president of Cloumbia records he said the business model will have to change but start with making good(!) music and there will probably be a market for it.

19. Corey F Says:

Yo, my sentiments the same with DB’Ossi. Whoever is over MTV needs to stop showing these horrible speciality shows and get back to showing music, different music. And yo, is it me or is Sucka Free MTV wack? They claim they show the latest in hip hop (culture, whathave you) it’s a joke.

20. JJ Says:

Artist’s need to work harder to earn my money!!!
