Photos: Trae Day Block Party

Trae with Houston Mayor Bill White

As I mentioned earlier, July 22nd is now officially Trae Day here in Houston. Here are some photos from the proclamation and block party. Congrats to Trae, Nancy, and the whole ABN. Block party pics after the gap.

I have to ask – was this really all because he did two shows at a prison?

I applaud him for that but don’t believe all of Trae’s music is that positive.

Plus there are many, many other Christian rappers and non-profit organizations (faith-based or not) in our city that make this a regular part of their work.

I’m just a bit surprised by the over-reaction.

More importantly, July 22nd is my birthday, I hit the sweet 16th this week. *Moonwalks*

Oh, & I agree with Sketch.

@ Sketch: I will admit I was surprised as well. It could be because he’s a bigger name. At the end of the day things like this tend to be political.

4. Trae and Mike Jones Apologize for Stupid Altercation | The Rap Up Says:

[...] Trae and Mike Jones have simultaneously released public statements and apologies in an attempt to put their recent altercation behind. I particularly like the fact that Trae’s apology came along with the above picture. In case you’re wondering, that’s Trae holding up the proclamation certificate Mayor Bill White handed him just 3 weeks ago. [...]

I know Im late on this whole topic but I have seen this exact same comment one several websites who eva the idiot that made the first comment! Now here’s how I see it! The ones who have negative things to say about this man and the work he’s doin, and or the recongnition….. You have to understand that everyone doesn’t live the life with the white picket fence ,wife, a dog and 2 1/2 kids! Now that said ppl it’s so easy to sit and comment from ur cozy home about things u know nothing about! Simply put you can’t teach a person about a subject u never studied!!!! Those kids need to see somone that really reflects the life they are living….. and see live in the flesh that there are possibilites…… That they can be successful… Now as far as he lyrics go, umm how can u say there bad but u know enough to quote him? Anyway at the end of the day regardless of the lyrics he is showing the kids another “legal” way to make a living! Hey u might wanna be glad he is making that un-godly music one less blk man u gotta hold ur purse tight when he walks by! But for us it’s one less blk man in prison!
