Seriously, who cares?

I’ll spare you the anti-Jesse Jackson rant, seeing as my brothers from another mother khal and Enigmatik have already done a fine job of putting Uncle Jesse in his place.

For the uninitiated, I’m referring to Jesse Jackson’s remarks that he’d like to castrate Obama, because the brother was “talking down to black people” with his faith-based program suggestions. Jackson was probably reacting to Obama’s Father’s Day admonition to fathers, in which he charged them to take care of the seeds.

“See, Barack’s been talking down to black people on this faith-based—,” Jackson said off air on Fox News. “I want to cut his nuts off.”

As a black man who grew up without a father in the house, I’d like to cut Jackson’s nuts off, but that’s beside the point.

Suddenly everyone thinks that Jackson’s statements will somehow alter the way people view Obama and thus hurt his campaign. Question is, how many people do you know that still take the Jesse Jacksons and the Al Sharptons seriously? I’d rather take advice from Michael Eric Dyson than from Jesse-Sharpton.

Calm down, people. Let grumpy old men be grumpy old men. I’m sure he’s made worse off-the-cuff remarks behind the scenes. He’s apologized. His son apologized. Obama has accepted his apology.

We could get into all the reasons why Uncle Jesse wants to neuter Obama. But seriously, who even cares?

It should help Obama now that white people know that Jesse don’t like him!

3. Enigmatik Says:

This just adds to a whole heap of crap that has nothing to do with whether or not Barack can or can’t lead the free world.

Jesse Jackson…hoe sit down.

“See, Barack’s been talking down to black people…”

I agree with that.

^Please explain.

I don’t think telling parents to assume responsibility for the children they’re bringing into this world is “talking down on black people.”

It is when the message is specifically given to Black fathers. Fatherless homes are more so an economic problem than one of race.

7. I Care Says:

Yes the message was to black fathers, but if you look at the statics they do leave there childeren more then white dads.

Off topic why are Black people allowed to say that the vote for Obama because he’s Black. (and if they don’t say it, it mostly is the reason. If I as a white say that I vote for McCain because he’s white then i’m a racists. (I vote for Barack, because he’s the best man). All people should vote for who they think that is the best men, not because of skin.

this is exactly why Jesse needs to sit down. people actually start believing the bullshit he is saying. Jesse doesn’t want Obama to win, apparently. I don’t know if its jealousy or Clinton dollas in his pocket, who the fuck knows.

Again, this is more a problem of economics (and education, and racism) than “race.” The misconception that black men are running around rampant fathering and leaving children everywhere they go is as pervasive as that of the mandingo.

Also, khal, I’d said things like that months before Jesse’s slip of the tongue, so please don’t insinuate that I’m some sort of sheep in a flock. Additionally, Jesse’s comment would do more to help Obama’s candidacy than hurt it, because of how many white people hate Jesse Jackson.

@moneda

I understand that it’s a economic thing, but you can’t say it’s racism thing.

I can’t say that young, black men being sent to prison on trumped up bullshit and being taken away from their families is the fault of racism? Like hell I can’t.
