20 Biggest Hip-Hop Earners of 2008
After shoving his wealth in our face via “I Get Money” and other such bragfests, 50 Cent now has one more reason to indulge in further chest-thumping this year. 50 dethroned Jay-Z to take over as hip-hop’s top earner, as estimated by Forbes. The Top 3 remains unchanged, with three self-ordained Kings of New York leading the pack again this year.
Here’s a rundown of hip-hop’s 2008 cash kings:
- 50 Cent - $150 million
- Jay-Z - $82 million
- P Diddy - $35 million
- Kanye West - $30 million
- Timbaland - $22 million
- Pharrell Williams - $20 million
- Swizz Beatz - $17 million
- Snoop Dogg - $16 million
- Dr. Dre - $15 million
- Ludacris - $14 million
- T.I. - $13 million
- Lil’ Wayne - $13 million
- Eminem - $12 million
- Common - $12 million
- Akon - $12 million
- Jermaine Dupri - $11 million
- Lil Jon - $11 million
- OutKast - $10 million
- Chamillionaire - $10 million
- The Game - $10 million
I wonder how the boys will respond to this year’s list. You may recall that Diddy challenged the 2007 list, saying that Forbes under-reported his revenues. Jay-Z also joked about the same issue on “Roc Boys,” which Diddy helped produce (”Take what the Forbes figured, then figure more/Cause they forgot to account what I did with the raw”). And who can forget “I Get Money (Forbes 1,2,3 Remix)”?
