14 Deadly Secrets by The RZA
14 Deadly Secrets by RZA (Hosted by Tre the Boy Wonder and Derezon )
DJ Derezon & Tre the Boy Wonder, the duo behind DJ Premier’s 14 Deadly Secrets, chased down the RZA and convinced him to stop playing chess long enough to talk about music. As you probably know, 14 Deadly Secrets is a special session where legendary producers break down the stories behind 14 of their hits. Listen as RZA dishes some behind-the-scene stories about 14 classics, including “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and “C.R.E.A.M.” Pay attention, school is now in session.
Some interesting tidbits from RZA’s 14 Deadly Secrets:
- “Protect Ya Neck”
- “C.R.E.A.M”
- “You’re All I Need”
- “Killa Hill”
- “Ice Cream”
- “Long Kiss Goodnight”
“Rumor has it this was the first song where you had 8 MCs and everybody killed it.”
The original title for “C.R.E.A.M.” was “Lifestyle of the Metal Rich”
Method Man agreed to do this collaboration with Mary J Blige on the condition that the label would buy him a Lexus.
DJ Muggs told RZA he’s the only one who’s inspired him in the last 10 years “and I’d love for you to do a song on our album.” So now you know what to tell RZA if you want him to hop on your album.
Marked the first time Wu-Tang featured models in their music video.
“This is a very important song because, at one point, members of my crew wasn’t getting along with Biggie. There was a lot of confrontation going on, but I knew Biggie a few years prior to that and he always had respect for my style of production.”
Now let’s have one of these for Dr. Dre and Pete Rock. Digg This!
