The Retro Kidz: Hip-Hop Meets Bad Fashion

The Retro Kidz – “New Era”

Retro Kidz want to bring the 80s back? That’s OK with me, that’s where they made me at. Seriously, these kids are fresh as can be. If you’re terribly sick of the futuristic robo-voice trend, embrace Retro Kidz with arms wide open. Their emergence — and that of other like-minded revivalists — helps create a sense of balance, even if it sets us back 2 decades.

C’mon SB, share the joke. I promise, I won’t tell anyone.

Honestly, this is bullshit. Lol I’m all for the “Lifestyle Rap” / “Revival Rap” trend coming out of the woodworks, but this shit is on another level of gimmicks. I mean does anyone who starts their career as a gimmick, truly make it in the music industry?

I mean its almost as if they took a look at the Cool Kids and saw all the wrong things, then decided to raid the local Salvation Army Shop.

If I want to hear some 80’s hip hop I have theres an incredible catalogue of REAL 80’s hip hop artist out there to listen to… this does nothing to push music forward.

Yeah…it’s cute at first. But this over-the-top nostalgia makes Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff videos look gangsta.
