Anyway, her music’s decent, and it’s a damn shame that nowadays, where you’re from dictates whether you are an “enemy of the state” or not…that’s some of that racist bullshit, to be honest. i’m sri lankan, and we do have a 20 yr war going on over there. the reason ppl say that about her is cuz her dad was involved in some of that ish and she, as far as i saw, never condemned the LTTE (the terrorists), until recently when I checked her myspace blog.

obviously, she herself is not a terrorist. i do wish she had used her position to bring the attention to the war internationally, but it’s not her responsibility.

to be honest tho, hearing about her ties (whether false or true) and associating that with her music made it really hard for me to listen to her songs.

but w/e, props to a sri lankan doin it big. and fuck that tamil vs sinhalese shit. we both get along just fine b4 and even now in the non terrorist-controlled areas.

also, if in 20 yrs that war is still going on… i dont even know what to say. ima go take over the damn island myself if i have to.

the LTTE are belligerents fighting in a civil war, i wont get into whether I think its a just one or not, the Tamil minority definately had lots of grievences and violence against them that spurred / spurs them to violence… imperial powers will choose who to call freedom fighters and who to call terrorists. Some drug runner fascists in Nicaragua were freedom fighters when popularly elected governments were terrorist states like Venezuela or Cuba.

o i’m not saying the gov’t is all that, but at least they aren’t kidnapping children or blowing up buses.

and the LTTE are killing Tamils too, not just Sinhalese. they kill moderate Tamil leaders, including those in the gov’t.
