Soulja Boy Salutes the Slave Masters

While interviewing Soulja Boy for his Black Carpet show last week, Toure found out what a pathetic sambo Soulja Boy really is. Toure had asked the kiddie rapper about his most hated public figure. He couldn’t think of any public figures, but he sure had some well thought-out praise for the slave masters.

So, Toure called him out:

I asked him, What historical figure do you most hate? He was stumped. I said, “Others have said Hitler, bin Laden, the slave masters…” He said, “Oh wait! Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters! Without them we’d still be in Africa.”

My jaw, at this point, was on the ground.”We wouldn’t be here,” he continued, having no idea how far in it he’d stepped, “to get this ice and tattoos.”

Wow. Never mind that diamonds come from Africa. Never mind that there were many generations of pain in between leaving Africa and getting diamonds. Never mind that the long-term cataclysmic effects of subtracting about tens of millions of young, strong people from Africa over the course of a couple of centuries is a large part of the reason why Africa now appears so distasteful to you. Never mind all that, Soulja Boy. You put country first.

To his defense, Soulja Boy’s all around ignorance may not be his fault, because along with having no brains, an average jelly fish lacks the capacity to process any information that involves current events or knowledge of one’s history.

damn, i blame us. he needs a mentor

2. Ivan Says:

Unbe-f*cking-lievable.

3. Purpose Says:

Hopefully he gets excoriated by the millions that bought his damn ringtones. Seems to me that he will not seek to educate himself until his ignorance affects his bank account. Until then, he will continue to say things like this.

4. amachi Says:

umm…. is he really to blame for not knowing shit….

as far as i am concerned ppl are only willing to self educate if they were in an environment that was conducive to such, practices….

5. FlyyWill Says:

WOW!!!! But this is the supposed future of rap?! (Or at least so says Kanye) And we support this?! We giving them what we made on a silver platter and allowing them to destroy it single handedly, But when someone like ICE-T one of the 1st to do it one of the O.G.’s sees this garbage an calls it out for what it is everybody says “He’s wrong for that!” Just goes to show the mentality we have allowed the media to manipulate us into! C’mon yall wake the fuck up!! If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then quess what….IT’S A MAFUCKIN DUCK!!

6. FlyyWill Says:

Oh yeah!! And we gotta stop making excuses for this type of shit!! I woulda never said no wild shit like that at his age period!! It’s not that he dosen’t know it’s that he dosen’t care!!

7. DJ Raida Says:

does this mean every1 can stop liking him now? :D

8. the snow donkey Says:

it would have been a lot more surprising if he went into this whole speech on historical injustices and what not- like really what did dude expect Soulja Boy to say? It’s a question that was set up to exploit how uneducated he is about the past- as if we all didn’t know that already from the ice-t incident.

9. Nile Says:

I don’t have words. just sadness…smh

10. poupi Says:

Soulja Boy is onto something. Reality is far more complex than it appears on the surface.

For example, there are more people sold into slavery in Africa today than the combined total of all the slaves from the historical period ending with the Civil War. Many people profess feeling horrified about the slavery of their ancestors. But they won’t do anything to go address that same evil occurring right now. Go figure!

Another example: the person who invented slavery would have qualified for the Nobel Prize in Humanitarianism. Why? Because before slavery, the losers in wartime were slaughtered, men, women, children, even the animals. Salt was put down into their wells so that the defeated country was left uninhabitable. Destruction was complete. How much more humane it was when vanquished people –men, women and children– were taken as slaves. Wretched as their lives were, it was better than annihilation.

My point is that Soulja Boy’s comments have some basis in fact, because facts are often uncomfortable.

11. garg Says:

Of course, there is no way to be sure but I think that Africa wouldn’t be in the mess that it is in today were it not for the British and French colonists who divided up the natural resources, gave everything to some, while none to others, and then enslaved millions and millions of people. No doubt that that had a huge negative affect on the continent.
So, he’s wrong because while his generation may have still been in Africa today, things would be a lot better had slave trading colonists never existed.
It’s also true, that countries that had slaves working for them probably wouldn’t have been so prosperous either. Free labor for centuries must have counted for something.

12. Soulja Boy Is The Future Says:

Seriously, don’t call him ignorant, he’s 17 years old, and the dynamic he is describing in his own vernacular essentially boils down to a new beginning where people who didn’t experience the past are not tripping about it anymore to the people that also don’t remember it. I know people say if you forget you will repeat the same mistakes, but the mistakes are being repeated in different forms in the world as we type, and they will continue to be for perhaps eternity or until global consciousness is raised.

Also you need to realize that Soulja Boy is an easy going, playful kinda dude, he’s really happy and he spreads his vibe to the people he interacts with, which is why he is gettin S
O much money. It doesn’t matter if you like his music or not, people like HIM, and they also like to dance. Music isn’t the only form of entertainment that makes money, and Soulja Boy inhabits a new paradigm within the entertainment industry. I think that contrary to the beliefs of some, his career is only starting and he will grow in skill and discover new directions and creative pursuits, which he can realize since he has enough support from people that like him.

So basically fuck off, you’re the ones acting ignorantly, please heed my words and reconsider, and join the fun over where we like Soulja Boy instead of hate on him. Tell ‘Em.

I like living in America.

14. John M. Says:

I didn’t expect the Soulja Boy Defense Force to be so adamant or so forgiving of their musical messiah’s ignorance.

You are what we call “enablers.” In this case, of ignorance and foolishness.

15. Dr. Dope Says:

you are working way to hard to make that uneducated hip hop killing disrespectful piece of trash sound like he may have a point.

16. Nunchuk Nino Says:

#12 is a cold-blooded, methodical, dyed-in-the-wool Stan

You CANNOT make excuses for this!

“He’s only 17?” He’s a grown man in my book.

17. Nunchuk Nino Says:

And shake my head at you guys havin a serious debate about Soulja Boy possibly being on to something….

18.
Rizoh
Rizoh Says:

Point of correction: Soulja Boy is 18.

19. LA Huey Says:

Soulja Boy is an idiot, no doubt. But…

20. A.Voye Says:

What’s wrong with Soulja boy’s comment? I know I don’t want to be over in africa right about now shit you wouldn’t either - you’d probably be missin an arm or leg or some shit, they crazy over there - you ain’t gone hear no back to africa bullshit from me shit - i hold you down soulja boy - you just a realist!

21. Rick. Says:

Who said I couldn’t call him ignorant. He’s IGNORANT. Any of you kids defending him, say that shit to your parents. See if they don’t slap the ignorant off your mouths.

22.
Shotster50
Shotster50 Says:

@ A.Voye,

That is a straight up ignorant view you’ve got on par with Soulja Boys. Its like saying I cant go to America because i heard the crips or the bloods kill people everyday and that could just be in California. What do you know, I am in Africa right now and I havent seen anyone getting their arms cut or shit like that. Thats the problem with this generation of African Americans thinking Africa is some wild ass place with people jumping on trees. Dont buy what you see on TV.. Go and have a feel and see what you’v been missing.

23. esbee Says:

As an African making an excuse for Soulja Boy’s comment is not only insulting and distasteful but is downright condescending to people who apparently he knows nothing of or about.

The fact we’re debating this even is what’s worse.

24. Bazza Says:

I thought i could write something sensible but i guess i cant!! am straight out of africa doin university here but to be honest i prefer africa way more than here and am not trying to be disrespectful, but africa was robbed of its most intelligent and strong people, who were then sent all over the world… obama shud be running for president in Kenya but no thanks to the traders we were robbed of such personalities and some one has the oddasity to be happy about it!! well anyways its not my place to educate i just hope his roots dont stretch into africa coz that wud make him a disgrace!!!

25. UNDERSTANDING Says:

Dumb negro. But then again … his comment is no worse than DMX admitting a while ago [while the Democratic was in full swing] that he didn’t know who Brack Obama was. Its like my dawg Chris Rock said:

Ni**as’ Treat Books Like Kryptonite.”

http://www.myspace.com/understandingone

26. Purpose Says:

The ingorance of his comment is only surpassed by the ridiculous defenses of his comment being put forward by some of the posters here.

He is 18. old enough to vote, old enough to take up arms for this country. Old enough to educate himself.

27. Anonymous Says:

I really hope someone fucking puts a bullet in him soon. The sooner he dies, the sooner we can get the post-death album sales rush out of the way. After that, society will forget about the stupid little shit in three months, if that.

28. music listener Says:

Honestly nobody should really care.
his music sucks. he had one maybe 2 songs that caught retarded people’s ears.

his music sucks. he can’t rap. nobody should care.

listen to real music. his shit is fucking garbage.

29. Dope C Says:

Someone had 2 lay dey life 4 wat he enjoyin 2day. fuck him. its absurd

30. Renaissance.Genre Says:

Im hurt at Soulja Boys comment-but it materializes the fact that we need to educate young ppl about the history of the civil rights movement and the journey it took for us to be where we are today. Im not mad at his ignorance-I feel sorry for him that he does not seem to have the zeal to inform him self on issues that will affect him. Ice T had a problem with this young man earlier in the year-My plea is for someone in the industry to mentor this youngman. Unfortunately giving up on him is giving up on our furture for there are many young adults who are lacking the education of who we are as a ppl. EACH ONE TEACH ONE! Dont hate, elevate. Be apart of the solution!

31. smifff Says:

Dis shit is funnyy. And true so stop gettin all offended.. it seems like u can’t say a thing without someone gettting offended anymore.. plus he’s making more money than anyone writing comments on here anyways.. I hear haters.. yea what he said is stupid but its also funny and I bet that was the reason why he said it.. cause its fukkin funny

32. Yawn Says:

poupi = obviously a white bastard

33. Fefe Says:

@ A.Voye LOL! LMBO! You truly sound like someone who needs to travel and read a book sweetheart. I used to get upset over silly comments such as the one you made, but now I feel nothing but pity for you.

Visit Africa. Read about where you came from. Travel outside of your state and then graduate to outside the country. Live. Learn. Love.

34. Fefe Says:

@ smifff

I’m curious. What is so funny? The fact that your great-grandparents were forced from their land, beat, stripped of all their rights and treated less than animals so you can get a tattoo?

Oh yeah, Hilarious! Whew:)

35. Jason Says:

Of course he’s young and dumb, while doing his hip-hop thing, but where is his parents? No one has mentioned parenting in this converstation.

Were they making sure he did his school work, or letting him make millions on lame ass music that people just buy into because it’s on the radio?

36. joel Says:

souja boy is sadly miseducated dont u know that we are the mothers and fathers of civilizations i suggest that u quit rapping shit, miss leading the youths and go start to read and research ur black history and cultural heritage

37. the floacist Says:

Remember when rappers used to be socially conscience and political, and VERY pro black? With African medallions? Used “brotha” and “sista” more often than they did that ‘other’ word?

Yeah, me either. That was a while ago too.

I think I’m going to watch some reruns of A Different World to calm my nerves…

38. the floacist Says:

Oh, and what would I give if Soulja Boy had a meeting with Farrakhan.

39. StylzG Says:

Wow…someone told me about this comment that SB made and I swore he was lying, but its really true. How ignorant can you be? SB would prefer the deaths of millions of women, children, men that died at the hands of extreme oppression so he can rock a gaudy ass chain? To those of you defending him, you must not be any older than 18 yourselves, i dont care how many extensive words you use “try” and sound smart. Africa for most of yalls information is a thriving place overall, but like any country, hell any continent has a violence in specific locations. You cant tell me there arent places in America where you know you can get messed up pretty bad, or even you “arm” chopped off. We are all products of our enviroment, so if you are born in America, of course you will love it, i mean you was born here plain and simple, I love America, its my home. I will NOT however sit here and say Im glad I’m not in Africa because that is a ludicrous statement 1st off, and even if I was born in Africa, I would love it because it would be my home and where I came from. All you SB “nut”riders really dont have an argument, you are just trying to find any angle you can to give him a pass on this one, when deep in your hearts, you know you were shocked when u 1st read this article as I was. Then yall had to “think” of a way for it to be okay…hell no..its wrong and even he knows that.
