DJ Premier Wants Nas to Party Like It’s 1992 [Video]

Here’s Premier thinking out loud about two of the MCs he helped propel into East-Coast rapdom in the 90s with his unparalleled musical guidance. Turns out Preem made a beat for American Gangster, but Jay wasn’t feeling it. “If you ain’t gonna use it,” says Premo in the video (above), “just call me and say ‘Preem, this ain’t it.’” He goes on to say — and this is the interesting part — that he wishes Nas could do another album with the original team: Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock, and Q-Tip.

The Dynasty was weak sauce, but I think Premo was referring to the production.

I agree with Rizoh and mydrink. Dynasty was hot garbage. I didn’t even think the production was anything special.

I agree with Haters picks. Dynasty has some mean work, has some weak shit like “Squeeze first” too, but I can forgive it cause the stuff that’s good is outstanding. Dynasty Intro is top 5 Jay verses ever

“.. but i’m gon get richer thru any means with that thing that malcolm palmed in the picture, never read the qu’ran or islamic scriptures.. only psalms i read was on the arms of my niggas, tatooed so i carry on like i’m non religious, clap whoever stand between sean and figures”

Im a fan of all these cats what I say is keep working and cats gotta mesh eventually

13. balaramesh Says:

the dynasty was a great album lyrically and conceptually. jay, beans, face, free and even bleek killed their parts.

maybe, you homo’s cannot dance to the songs or sing along with the choruses (queers)

preme aint never lie. we BEEN wanting nas to do a whole album with the originals cats for the longest. it would be epic. shoot, at least a nas/preme cd would appease all nas fans

Ddotdallas I can’t believe u said “squeeze 1st” was weak. That’s some of the coldest shit jay has every spit!

“When I meet cha, I heat cha down; When I greet cha, meet cha wit pound; Not the hand shake but the kind that make ya demand a wake; the kind that put land ova ya face; I’ll pop ya, let docta stitch ya; I-N-F-R-A will not miss ya; I move light like my shoes to tight; leave niggas confused from the day to the night; at night, u see the light when the pistol sparkin; daytime it gets dark when that pistol barkin…”

Look, it’s Business as usual, Preemo, I haven’t heard a banger from you in years. I pretty much done so many preemo wannabes, I don’t know how you don’t run out of shit to do, but I can respect your style. I don’t get why you’re mad at not getting your shit, it’s only business.

I know you’re talking as a bitter person who’s residual checks won’t be coming in since the beats aren’t in the album.

how much do you charge for beats these days?
