Eminem – “We Made You” Video
John M. pointed out to me that Eminem was trying to fit 5 years’ worth of disses into one song. It looks like he also tried to stuff 20 years worth of pop culture references into one video.

Grow-up Already! Says: April 7th, 2009 at 9:12 am Eminem is whack….can you imagine any other credible hip hop artist getting away with doing such a horrific song! People have the nerve to place him with the GREATS! |

mcfaddenisdead Says: April 7th, 2009 at 10:07 am why has he changed his voice to this stupid-ass middle eastern flow? For some reason I always give him the benefit of the doubt, but he hasnt had a hot song in 5 years. Bring back the 8Mile flow. |

moneda Says: April 7th, 2009 at 12:31 pm Mmmm, “the 8 Mile flow”… yea, I could do with some of that. |

John M. Says: April 7th, 2009 at 1:36 pm I think a lot of people are skipping over the message of the song. Hell, it’s in the title. “We Made You.” It’s about how pop culture and the media and the people who consume it chew up and spit out these celebrities, and Em is just willing to admit it and lampoon it, as always. The misogyny- from his battling on “Planet Womyn”, a clear shot at his feminist detractors, to feeding the Kim Kardashian lookalike into a woodchipper, is both indicative of his own reverence and his salience that, whether or not we like it, that’s how WE treat these icons. We relish in the tragedies of the rich and famous. The video did a lot more for me than the goofy accent and somewhat hurried flow. It’s not my favorite Eminem song. But I think a lot of people are missing the message, which is more concise than his usual lead singles (which have historically had similar themes) and just hearing the silliness and loud horns. |

John M. Says: April 7th, 2009 at 1:37 pm *Irreverence, not reverence. Big difference. God, I need to learn to proofread. |

Hammerhead Says: April 7th, 2009 at 2:22 pm Its decent. Not great, not what I expected at all. I think its safe to say nobody expected the chorus to turn out how it did. We’ll be hearing it on the radio for the next 3 months though so get used to it. |

moneda Says: April 7th, 2009 at 6:27 pm John M., just because we don’t find the cut aurally pleasing doesn’t mean we’ve missed Em’s signature irreverent social commentary. We’re just wishing it was… a good song. |

lifeislove2011 Says: April 7th, 2009 at 6:57 pm I think that John M. has a huge point! Eminem is just willing to actually say the shit that needs to be said!! |

John M. Says: April 7th, 2009 at 7:46 pm I’m not saying that everyone who dislikes the song is missing the message. I’m saying a lot of people, both those who like and dislike it, seem to be missing the message. And I’m sure there are many more who get it, too. |
| 15. |
mcfaddenisdead Says: April 7th, 2009 at 8:46 pm The message isn’t deep enough to excuse the all around shittiness of the song OR video. If he hadn’t already had his 4 other pop-culture referencing bouncy first singles, maybe the “meaning” would be more poignant. |

EmPeakedatLoseYourself Says: April 7th, 2009 at 9:40 pm Oh, give me a break. This shit isn’t funny or clever. It’s to music videos what the Epic Movie / Date Movie shit is to comedies: Mindless pop culture references. And yes, I get “the message” of the song. But unfortunately, I listen to every rapper who isn’t Eminem, in addition to Eminem. So I’ve heard songs with better messages, and wittier/funnier lyrics, not in an annoying Triumph the Insult Comic Dog voice. The video has a creative flair, I’ll give it that much. But the song is painfully bland, ugh. And why are fans defending it like they get a share of the royalties? Shit’s dumb. Either it’s good or it’s not, I could give a fuck it’s “the formula.” |

esbee Says: April 8th, 2009 at 12:39 am really dunno what ppl expected. Surely you didn’t expect ‘way i am’ or ’stan’ em is no longer that guy imo. He’s no longer battling those issues in his life plus he always came out with a funny and catchy/corny/goofy lead single. It’s been his m.o. and its worked, let’s see if ppl will bite. |

True Slim Shady Fan Says: April 8th, 2009 at 7:54 pm Seriously this song is amazing. Everybody doesn’t like his voice, but if you guys remember correctly Slim Shady is based off of accents and this is his new one NOT AN OLD ONE. In this song he just shredded through everyone like it was nothing. It was crazy and I hope he’ll be in the light of new real soon to wreck havoc on everyone. Can’t wait till his new album and hope he keeps the new voice and not listen to these UNFAITHFUL FANS! To be honest these guys who say this shit aren’t even true Slim Shady Fans or even real rap fans to be honest. So shut the fuck up idiots and learn that Slim Shady is the King of Hip Hop and Rap cuz all these other assholes suck especially lil wayne haha yea lil wayne is garbage and he can suck my fuckin dick cuz I could own him in a freestyle probably so yea SLIM SHADY IS THE BEST OF THE BEST AND FUCK ALL OF YOU WHO DOESN’T LIKE HIS NEW FOUND VOICE. |

TrueSlimShadyFansAreDelusional Says: April 10th, 2009 at 1:16 pm What are you, a 15-year-old-girl? Because nobody says “Shady’s the BEST of the BEST” unless they have a 15-year-old girl’s knowledge of hip-hop. Go listen to Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and KRS-One, at the very least, before making such a complete fool of yourself. Shady’s good, but it’s idiotic fans like you that will always his name off people’s Top Ten Rapper Lists. You don’t even like hip-hop. You like pop. |

Hiddukel Says: May 17th, 2009 at 10:59 am Not bad. Kinda funny, but as to his style being “the same”, it’s good that he sticks to it. Biggie would roll over in his grave if he heard some of the rap/hip-hop garbage coming out today, so trying to compare what Em did here with the majority of today’s hip-hop I’d have to say Em wins hands down. |

oh, whatever Says: September 14th, 2009 at 3:48 pm c’mon you guys. I know its stupid but dosnt he deserve some humor as well as the sad meaningful songs? There is a message just like there is behind his other songs, this one he just had a little more fun making. but really, his lyrics, compared to people like flo rida copying other songs and singing “jump jump jump jump”, eminem really rocks the show. |
