This is just a cynical ploy for the record labels to make more money by getting lil wayne to crossover. His fanbase are mainstream enough to still buy cd’s so they’re using it as a platform to get those millions of cd buying fans to buy into other artists and vice versa.

I think autotune sounds nicer than previous rock/rap styles.

“black rock” is not new. 3-4 years ago the ‘rock’ mentality was in the rap game thanks to the shopboys and jim jones and juelz.

Crossing genres can lead to innovative and original results, so it’s something I applaud if it’s done creatively, and not just for the sake of crossing genres. That being said, the leaks I’ve heard from ‘Rebirth’ were just mediocre rock songs with autotune, it’s not pushing forward any genre imo.
