Is This What an iPod Killer Looks Like?
Remember my iPod Touch? Well, I accidentally ran over it with my car. And once the G1 captured my heart last 7 months ago, I terminated my search for a new device. I may be forced to lift my moratorium on portable media players if the Zune HD is the iPod Touch killer Microsoft loyalists have been branding it as.

Zune HD features an HD Radio tuner, a 3.3-inch, 480 x 272 OLED multi-touch screen. It will use flash memory and a “special” version of Microsoft’s stinky browser, Internet Explorer, which will run on a modified version of Windows CE rather than Windows Mobile. The real selling point here is that it spots an HDMI connection for streaming video to HDTVs. Throw in Wi-Fi connectivity and a built-in accelerometer and you have gadget that’s going to give the iPod Touch one hell of a challenge.

Oh, and I heard (from a friend who’s always going on and on about the awesomeness of Zune) that Zune owners can trade in their old devices for the new one at no extra charge. If all of this is true, then Microsoft will have Apple standing on its tippy toes this summer.
