Long before No I.D. set out to help Jay-Z fight the good fight against Auto-Tune by transforming Janko Nilovic’s “In the Space” to a street smash named “Death of Auto-Tune,” a little-known producer named Mah’ko 37 had already flipped the same sample to great effect. Not unlike when Just Blaze and Da Beatminerz flipped the same Little Boy Blues sample for “P.S.A.” and “Stay Real” respectively. Anyway, MHK 37 produced “Appel aÌ€ l’ordre” for Stereo Neg and it appeared on a 2006 mixtape that flew under the radar.
