6 People Shot at Trae Day Celebration
As you probably know by now, today was Trae Day in Houston. The showcase went relatively well, but a party ain’t a part until some douchebag decides to shoot up the spot. The crazy thing is that I had just pulled out of the parking lot when shots started ringing. It sounded like fireworks were raining in the parking lot. The entire TSU campus place erupted in chaos as people scampered for safety.
Details are still sketchy, but Houston Chronicle is reporting that there were at least 3 casualties:
Gunfire erupted at and near the campus of the Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston on Wednesday evening, officials told BNO News. Up to 5 people were reported injured.
It happened just before 9 p.m. local time when shots were fired during an event at the TSU campus, which was hosted by another community. Initially, the Houston Police Department reported that 3 people had been shot but FOX 26 is now reporting that there are at least 5 victims. Dozens of gunshots rang out at up to three different locations. One of the locations was off campus where a minor was shot. The gunfire may have come from several weapons.
It was not immediately clear if any of the victims were students, said Eva Pickens, who is a spokeswoman for the university. She said one of the incidents happened on the east side of the campus, near the parking garage. Pickens added to say that no lockdown was ordered following the shootings.
All it takes is one stupid cheeseburger to give everyone a bad name.
