Little Brother Not Quite Dead…Yet
Big Pooh announced on Twitter just minutes ago that Little Brother’s rumored final bow, Left Back EP, will arrive this sometime this fall. In an interview with 215, Phonte described Left Back as a compilation of songs recorded during the Getback sessions, a few new joints, some remixes, and an in-depth behind the scenes DVD. He then grabbed a hammer and dealt this blow to LB fans: “That’s pretty much gonna be our denouement, I think.”
Oh, and this:
“I don’t think LB has anything more to say as a group…It’s been 3 studio albums, a host of mixtapes/mix-albums, a gang of label/internal group drama and we still survived through it all. For me, it just feels like a “we came, we saw, we made our mark” sorta thing. I don’t know if there’s anything left to prove. Me and Pooh will always make music together in some capacity. If anything it’ll be more like a BlackStar situation where we will have our solo endeavors but still occasionally perform together and pop up on each other’s projects. But as for the LB brand, “Leftback” will definitely be the last fix for awhile.
So, this is it? Little Brother is officially dead. Oh, who am I kidding. Pooh debunked the rumor himself in his response to my tweet, “LB’s denouement?”:
So there you have it, kids. Tay and Pooh will drop Left Back, take a break from The Minstrel Show, then Get Back (hopefully with 9th Wonder) for one last Listening session. *Fingers crossed*
