Songs Disowned by People Who Made Them Famous

beasties-ffyr

I stumbled across a post on Spinner which highlights songs disowned by the people who made them famous, including the Beastie Boys’ “Fight For Your Right.” I can’t think of too many hip-hop songs that were disowned by the artists who made them famous. See, rappers believe that their songs are all classics and nothing less. Sure, Method Man campaigned vigorously against “Say” as a single and Chamillionaire distanced himself from “Hip-Hop Police” for the same reason, but none of them outrightly dissed their own song. Can you think of any?

i think joe budden disowned his first album, it just reminds him of def jam…too bad this post doest include songs that rappers should disown; that list would go on for a while.

I dunno if it counts or not, but Vanilla Ice and Young MC both tried to disown their big songs. Esp Vanilla, dude wigged out on national TV with a baseball bat.
