The Rap Up x NBA Live 10 Xbox Giveaway

nba live 10

I’m in a good mood today, so one lucky Trubian will walk away with a free Xbox copy of NBA Live 10. Some of you know me as an avid NBA 2K fan. I’ve been playing 2K for almost a decade, and I couldn’t imagine a better hoop game. However, I’m going to give NBA Live fans a chance to make their case right here. That’s right, all you have to do to enter this contest is convince me that NBA Live is, in fact, better than 2K. I’ll pick the most convincing argument tomorrow (Friday) at noon CT. Go!

While you’re cooking up your thesis, you can also download the free NBA Live Mixtape, hosted by Mick Boogie.

I’m giving away a copy to one lucky winner, but the rest of you basketball gaming heads can cop a fresh joint from the EA Sports website.

UPDATE:
A winner has been picked. Thanks to everyone for participating. Stay tuned for future contests.

I haven’t played 2K or Live in years so I really can’t convince you on which one is better. But growing up my brothers and I always played Live. The first one I played was NBA Live ‘98 with Tim Hardaway on the cover for Playstation. Then as the years went by we would get both 2K and Live and the last one I played was 2K6 and Live ‘06, so I’m really late with everything haha

Ill tell you why Live is better. Dynamic DNA. The player ratings change depending on how they are playing. What does that mean? It doesn’t matter if they still think players like AI are good. If they aren’t playing good in real life then it changes. I hate it when they rate the players higher then they should be. Or when a no name like R. Sessions blows up like last year they actually change if you are on XBox live. And if you like to simulate seasons you actually have players sign later then the first 2 days of FA. Players like… wait for it… AI. I don’t simulate often but every once in a while it is fun to switch it up. I always was a fan of the 2K series until Live started this about 2 years ago. But hey you give me the game for free and I would LOVE to give the 2k series another chance…

Let it not be said that the NBA 2k series is without its merits. From the impressive nature of the graphics to the realism of the gameplay, NBA 2K is without a doubt a solid contributor to basketball gaming. Personally, I made the switch from Live to 2K when I made my much delayed move from PS2 to XBox 360. From word-of-mouth, I was expecting a damn-near life-changing experience when I popped in 2K for the first time – unfortunately, I was let down. Sure, the game looks nice, and the variety of options available on the court are cool, but I just wasn’t drawn to the game like I had been with Live. It was lacking a certain…je ne sais quoi. It just didn’t engage me the way a great video game should.

NBA Live is said to be unrealistic by some critics, but damn it, it IS a video game after all, and I’d rather my basketball game be damn entertaining than percisely realistic. Not only that, but Live’s menu screens are slicker and more appealing, it’s All-Star Weekend mode is more authentic, it lacks the turbo glitches that often show up in 2K, and the crossover options are infinitely better than those of 2K. Toss is less plasticy player graphics and a consistently dope game soundtrack, and I’ve just about given myself enough reasons to make the switch back to Live.

A free game would just be a sign that I haven’t been unconsciously swayed by the Freemasons, or something.

Oh, and the Lakers scooping up Ron Artest? It would simply be morally wrong for any self-respecting Rockets fan to purchase any game directly associated with the Lakers (*points at He Who Must Not Be Named on the cover*).

/end rant.

5. S S Says:

At least Harry Potter didn’t have to rape a chick to get some play.

AGH!

The music on Live is better it motivates you to win.

@SS: Haha! I was going to boycott 2K10 for that same reason, but a friend gave it to me as a birthday gift (it dropped same week as my birthday).

8. Bryan Says:

Well, I too am normally a 2k man myself, but this is different case. If the game was free, then I would have no doubt that Live 10 would be better. At this time I can not afford either game so a free mediocre basketball game would be much better than the excellent 2k game that I can’t afford. That is all. Thanks for your consideration.

Both are great, and NBA Live 10 may have candy bright graphics, but they’re much more true to life/realistic than 2K. Not sure about everyone else, but when I play I like to feel like I’m part of the game, truly in the game and NBA Live 10 does it for me.

10. Big Z Says:

Cuz NBA Live has Brother Ali on the soundtrack….i dunno if that’s true, but it’d be sweet if it were.

11. justin p Says:

Live is better because it has more features like the DNA and they have a mode where you can play with 5 other people as a team of 5 online.

The player’s tendencies are more like their real life abilities, plus they look much more realistic now. One big thing is the commentary has changed to reflect real life, which is nice because it gets real annoying after awhile when you hear the same thing over and over.

Though the main thing that sets live apart from 2k is the game play. The style of play is much more fast paced and who doesnt like to dunk over someone? But the good thing is the game is a bit more realistic.

An argument that live isn’t fun cause it’s not as realistic is ridiculous. Who didnt like playing NBA JAM back in the day? that game was the shit and it’s not realistic unless you’re comparing to my ball skills

12. Erock Lazron Says:

NBA Jam rules ! I still play that alot. Got my Sega hooked up to the widescreen right now. It may look bad, but man is it fun.

13. Tiffany Says:

^^^ NBA Jam was my game back in the day, I use to play with the Orlando Magic all the time. Damn wish I still had my Sega smh

14. Donto Says:

Because its from EA and always been the best. Point blank

15. best ever Says:

I think that in no way at all is Live the better game. 2k is a much better game every year. I feel like I should get the game so that I can take it back and tthen go to the store and buy nba2k10 and start ballin again.
