Canibus Flips Out On Invasion Radio, Refuses to Freestyle

I see exactly where Canibus is coming from. Why should he freestyle on some cornball radio show when he doesn’t have to? Now this is the type of attitude that kept him from maximizing his potential as an artist. So what if you’ve dropped thousands of bars in the past? So have KRS-One, Nas and a host of others who don’t mind freestyling on the radio. Hell, Keith Murray has dropped a ton of bars, but he not only freestyled his ass off, he tried to make sense of your boneheaded argument. The essence of hip-hop is the ability of an MC to grab a mic and spit rhymes at anytime. Get in line, Bis.

Its not freestyling when he doesn’t have to. He’s talking about the disrespecting. They are ORDERING him to spit….”like i have a drawcord on my back…”

@ Romeo

First, they were not ordering him to. They just told him to spit a few bars, in the same way the ask any artist to spit a few bars. Canibus can’t tell me he doesn’t understand the concept of “on the spot” or ever heard of Invasion Radio. Second, with his career they way it is he should be happy that there are still people waiting to hear him spit bars. As one of the radio personnel said. He still has fans who are listening right now. What the fuck do you think they want to hear. I washed up rapper complaining in a Jafaican accent about having to spit bars or a ill MC ripping the MIC. Murray went on and did his thing like a respectable MC would. Canibus should take a real good look in the mirror.

if canibus is an MC, what does he think niggas wanna hear him do on a fucking hip-hop radio show (one that’s known for having ciphers and freestyle sessions on it)?

nigga, if you didn’t rap, no one would know who the fuck you are. what an asshole.

Man yall are not getting what Canibus is talking about… he’s actually doing all hip hop artists and hiphop itself justice…Respect the artist man your just a fan…im pretty sure if you saw Jordan or Allen Iverson, your not gonna hand them a basketball and tell them to show you their crossover or slam dunk for them… fall back and take the shackles off your feet, your nobodys slave, not even radio….

Canibus. What a douche.

I don’t think he’s “doing hip hop justice” or a favor. He just didn’t freestyle. Plain and simple. Keith Murray kicked his freestyle, and it was great. Canibus just didn’t want to freestyle. Keith even tried to segway into the rhyme for him.

When the chick said “Ok, I got 16 bars.” I think she was jabbing at him for not rhyming, or possibly just not having anything to say. While I agree of not having to be forced or pressured into freestyling if you simply don’t want to- (you probably shouldn’t go to those radio stations in the first place),- he probably should have been prepared.

He just didn’t want to freestyle, but just to promote his music. Fine and dandy, but knowing the station he was going on- he should have been prepared.

Please, hip hop fans, don’t be quick to ride someone’s nuts without analyzing the situation.

It’s not about the freestyle, it’s about the attitude. That radio show doesn’t owe him anything. No one owes him anything. Dude just wasn’t prepared, period. There’s nothing wrong with that. We all know he’s a beast on the mic, but that attitude will take you in any direction but up.
