Cowboys Cheerleader Wins Dumbest Costume of the Year

whitney i

A Dallas Cowboys cheerleader has brought attention to herself by donning the dumbest Halloween costume of the year. Take a close look and see if you can figure out which hip-hop celebrity 21-year-old Whitney Isleib was trying to impersonate. Man, there’s no way she could have pulled this off without wearing blackface. [/s]

Peep the news clip and some bizarre pics under the hood.

In defense of commenters 1-4 below, I originally ran this post without these photos of Whitney in blackface. I figured that adding the imagery would help tell the full story. So, I went back and added the pics as well as a link to a website that offers plenty of material on the issue. The reality is that most people don’t fully grasp the concept of blackface and why we find it offensive in America. It’s flat out racist, period. Now, Ms. Isleib may be ignorant, but not necessarily racist. By the way, the two young ladies next to her are just as ignorant.

However, she’s in the limelight, being a Cowboy cheerleader and all. The teenyboppers who look up to these cheerleaders will see these things and follow suit. Thus, she’s knowingly or unknowingly promoting this racist depiction of African-Americans.

Regardless of your race or ethnicity, you have to agree that it’s important to point out the racist attitudes that exist in our midst. If this makes you uncomfortable, then you should ask yourself why.

People need to grow up..Ain’t nothing wrong with that…This why the chinese are taking over..They ain’t got nothing better to do than to make shit outta nothing…..

People are too sensitive. I highly doubt that there was an intended reference to black-face performers of the past. And meanwhile all the cheerleaders are dancing out there half dressed (which I quite enjoy, btw) and no one takes issue with that. I mean, give me a break.

Pretty much the most pointless TRU post I have ever seen. Not even tagged as Lil Wayne news (and dont we get enough lil wayne news?). This is a non story, if you ask me that’s a pretty original costume, I would give her an award.

I think people that think this is a non-issue don’t know the history behind blackface in America. I mean, you can sag your pants, wear red rags, and have the styrofoam cup, and people will know you’re Lil’ Wayne…there’s no need to be retarded and do something that you know will be talked about (unless of course, that saying about blondes is right…)

Not surprised @ comments 1-4. Its the same reason why till date with all the information out there available through the net with history still being fresh in this country of all the garbage blacks have had to deal with we continue seeing persistent images that remind us of the colorful past this nation has had.

Another thing I’d like to point out is I had some issue as well with the ladies dressed as mexican singers, maybe I’m just reaching but…

Like Walter said, could she not have at least dressed the part without the black paint, the apparent pink/red lipstick/gloss or whatever? This is in very poor taste, sorry and like I said with all the info out there there’s no excuse for this kind of nonsensical behavior.

original costume? i’ve seen (literally) dozens of lil’ wayne and t-pain costumes over the past two years on facebook posts. and the odd thing is, most of them aren’t by blacks.

8. Kid Esq. Says:

While I agree this is mildly offensive and ignorant, black folks have other shit to worry about than some white chick trying to impersonate Lil’Wayne. It shouldn’t matter. At the same time, it’s Halloween, and people are going to do dumb things.

Let’s move on. Nothing to see here.

Black folks need to realize that there’s a difference between “blackface” and a person in costume as a black person. Are Dave Chappelle and Eddie Murphy racist for dressing as white people? and nick cannon and nas just did a waay more racist and offensive video “eat dat watermelon” and let it out to the masses so WTF people?

11. JohnB Says:

Is this really an issue? I don’t see anyone getting all uptight about the sombreros and Pancho Villa mustaches.

If you have a problem with this its because you want to have a problem. Either we are going to get past this silly sort of BS or we will beat this dead horse forever.

If a black person (like say Eddie Murphy) dressed up as an old white jewish guy, people laugh and enjoy the fun f it. But should some white person do something to emulate a performer they like; well, all sorts of race cards get played by all sorts of fools both black and white.

Then there is the “but its black-face and its about the history of racism” or some ignorant blather. I applaud the forward thinking people that have left the past as the past. I have never been a slave. My parents were never slaves. My Grandparents were never slaves and my GREAT-GRANDPARENTS WERE NEVER SLAVES! On top of that I have yet to meet a single white person that owns a slave or even wants to!

Most of my friends are white. They do not seem to want to belittle me or see me as less of a man because I am not. Let this sort of thing go folks. There is no future in it and anyone (black or white) who gets upset by this sort of thing is just an idiot.
