ace-vs-edo-g
Masta Ace & EDO. G’s (A&E) “Little Young”

Masta Ace & EDO. G are the latest MCs to merge their firepower for the sheer purpose of resuscitating lyrical hip-hop. The two combine to form a duo dubbed A&E, with a new album, Arts & Entertainment, slated to arrive on October 6, 2009. Arts & Entertainment features guest appearances from Large Professor, KRS-One, Posdonus (De La Soul), DOITALL(Lords Of The Underground), Chester French & Marsha Ambrosious, production by Double O (Kidz In The Hall), M-Phazes & DJ Spinna. In the song above, EDO G takes aim at Lil’ Young rappers.

Jay-Z Explains ‘Blueprint 3′ Artwork

Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album cover has been the talk of the web since it was unveiled. In fact, it seems to have obliterated any backlash he may have caught over “Run This Town.”

Says Jay:

“These things are like the forgotten pieces in hip-hop. It’s still about music. It’s not about radio, making gimmicks — it’s still about making music. Those things are piled in the corner. These are the forgotten things about music. It’s still about music. It’s not about radio, it’s not about making gimmicks, it’s about music. The three stripes that everybody is asking about is made from the original [number] three. The first three they made on the wall was someone carving. If you look at [the number] 3, all they did was connect lines. The whole thing about this album, how I approached it, is that I wanted to make a new classic to start that all over again — to go back to making classic albums like the ones we grew up listening to.â€

Well, hey! He’s not a businessman. He’s a business, man.

Jay-Z – ‘Blueprint 3′ Artwork and Tracklist

jay-z_blueprint3_cover
The Blueprint 3 cover looks more like something you’d expect from Kanye. I’m not sure where Jay’s going with this but, now that he’s got my attention, he better make it good. Pop the lid for the alleged tracklist.

Eminem ‘Relapse’ Artwork

Behold the alleged album cover for Eminem’s Relapse. I guess this means he’s serious about dropping an album this year, huh? Unfortunately, I don’t think Relapse album will be the blockbuster album Interscope is hoping for, seeing as all the college kids already emptied their wallets on Asleep in the Bread Aisle.

DOOM – ‘Born Like This’ Swag Bag

With no more concertgoers left to rip off, MF Doom is now keeping busy with a new album allegedly titled Born Like This, due on March 24 via Lex Records. No one knows whether Doom intends to rap on any of the songs or if Dr. Seuss will be filling in for the Masked One.

Everything from the album artwork to its tracklist has become a source of utter confusion. Oh, and did I mention that the title is Born Like This or Born Into This, depending on what day of the week it is?

Grab the hi-res cover art (above) and proceed for tracklist, mp3s, and two alternate covers.

P.O.S.’ ‘Never Better’ Album Packaging Kicks Ass!

When I first received my copy of P.O.S. Never Better album, I thought to myself, “What, exactly, am I supposed to do with a poster of that guy from Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” Then someone from Rhymesayers sent me this video, which basically instructs you to rip the poster in shreds, reassemble it, and then set the whole thing on fire. Or something. It’s bad enough that you need a dictionary to fully absorb P.O.S.’ music, since he has a proclivity for big words like “cadaver” and “kettlebell,” now you’ll also need a sense of creativity and two hands to install the CD booklet.
