The Pros and Cons of Wu-Tang Clan vs. Slaughterhouse

slaughter-mouse

Last night, Andrew put me on to this Inspectah Deck diss track in which he goes at Joe Budden. Though he (Andrew) hailed it as the beginning of the epic battle between the 300 and the Persian army, I was not convinced until I heard the song. Even then, my initial reaction was, “Ok, so they sent Deck? Joey gets no respect.” But at the end of the day, my cynical side is the reasonable side and I realized that he’s the one with an album release date in 2009 listed as TBA. Of course they sent Deck, its all business. Now I’m going to go ahead and assume that if/when Jumpoff responds, he will mention the entire Wu-Tang Clan and I hope and pray that he recruits the help of his co-workers beforehand. So it takes a little imagination and looking forward into the future, but we could legitimately see the battle of the decade beginning before us. That being said, since we all know that Joe Budden has the “Jayceon Taylor disease” which makes him incapable of holding his tongue; we can assume that something will happen. So, here are my pros and cons to what could turn into a very legit battle if the right people get off of the sidelines. Read the rest of this entry »

Timbaland to Scott Storch: "Kill Yourself"

Timbaland ft. Sebastian & Attitude – “Kill Yourself”
The much buzzed-about feud between supa dupa producer Timbaland and Dre’s in-house sound architect Scott Storch enters its 2nd round with Tim landing another subliminal…*Yawn*

“Kill Yourself” is actually an upgrade from “Give it to Me” but that’s not saying much. Since Timbo’s too busy making beats that “sound like boom boom boom” to write 3 verses, he called up two of his weed carriers–Sebastian and Attitude.

(Head over to Spinemagazine.com for “Miscommunication,” another joint from Timbaland Presents Shock Value.)

Video: Scott Storch ft. Nox – Built Like Dat

Beef videos is the new new. Hate it or love it, Boo Boo has changed the game once again.

Unfortunately, that Illa Ghee soundalike (Nox) is the only bright spot on this song.

Young Buck ft. 50 Cent – Hold On (Cam Diss)

This is more of a Buck the World promo song than a battle track. Boo Boo’s trash-talking at the end is entertaining as always: “Talking about you got I.B.S./N***a, you got A.I.D.S.”

Now, let’s just wait and see if Cam’ron will take a loan from Jimmy’s so he can shoot another video. I mean, Cam’s video money is like Fiddy’s KFC money.

Shots Fired: Scott Storch – Built Like Dat (Timbaland Diss)

Scott Storch ft. Nox – Built Like Dat (Timbaland Diss)
It took a little jab from Timbaland to make Scott Storch pick up the mic? This might be the first intriguing producer battle of our era. Not in terms of talent–because neither Tim nor Scott can rap his way out of jail–but, this is everything the JD/Dre feud wasn’t. Balanced. Legit. Yet establishes nothing.

Storch started off as a founding member of The Roots and ended up making doo-doo songs with Paris Hilton and Brooke Hogan. On the other hand, Tim’s pop production prowess has never been in question. He’s better recognized for the Aaliyah tracks than for crafting one of the toughest beats on a Jay-Z album. Which is why it’s a good idea for Scott to stick with non-music-related disses here: “Whatchu tryin to lose weight, try to gain some respect”.

Oh, in case you’re wondering how it all started, Timbaland hauled some thin-veiled insults at Storch on his new single, “Give It to Me,” and claims to have recorded another diss to the “Piano Man” on his new album. Something about beat-jacking and whatnot.

And beef keeps evolving…

Video: Cam’ron – Currrtiss! (50 Cent Diss)

It’s a new day in hip-hop when so much energy and resources are being channeled into beef. That said, congratulations to Cam on his victory.

—————————

Cam is done. Who anywhere is ever going to take this man seriously again? As his wordplay gets weirder, he proves himself more and more the a**hole and as he beefs with more people and alienates himself in the industry, nothing he puts out is ever seeing 300k again.

“Cam won no question. His disses were funnier. Anyone notice how Jimmy and Juelz were visibly absent from this video? You really start to wonder…”(Esbee)

Video: 50 Cent – Funeral Music (Cam’ron Diss)

This is actually a better look for Mr. Giles than for whatever G-Unit project Fitty’s promoting this time.

True to fashion, the shittalking at the end is gullier than the diss itself.
“From now on, Jimmy is the boss of Dipset, and Juelz is the Capo. Cam is now demoted to soldier. We like Jimmy better anyway. Ballinnnn’”
