“Crack A Bottle” All-in-One Swag Bag

Now that “Crack A Bottle” has cracked its way up to No.1 on Billboard Hot 100, I figured I’d keep the buzz buzzing by posting this free swag bag. This swag bag includes hi-def (and I’m talking 320kbps) versions of “Crack A Bottle,” the mid-tempo comeback anthem by hip-hop’s 3 Musketeers — Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Boo Boo. Clean, instrumental, short, explicit, and super clean versions of the song in one convenient folder.

Eminem – Crack A Bottle (Feat. 50 Cent & Dr. Dre)

Eminem – Crack A Bottle (Ft. 50 Cent & Dr. Dre)
Ah, just what I needed to jumpstart a lazy day: Eminem, Dre, and 50 Cent reminding me that my life sucks. I hate to say “I told you so,” but it turns out I was right about the reference track. Speaking of which, Dre does Dre wayyy better than Em. Dre, keep making ‘em like this.

Eminem + Dr. Dre = “Number One”

Eminem (Feat. Dr. Dre) – “Number One”
Produced By: Dr. Dre

“Number One,” supposedly a track from Relapse, was billed as Eminem Featuring Dr. Dre, but it sounds more like a reference track for Dre because Em’s 2nd verse was delivered from Doc’s perspective.

Sample Lyrics:
“It’s sorta like pouring drain down a live volcano. You never know what would happen next, it may blow. Same thing happens to the beat when Dre flows. I talk sh*t but my d*ck’s long as my payroll. I get ass like a ball player, but I’m a boss playa.”

Poor Dre, his reference tracks keep leaking all over the net.

Jimmy Iovine: “I lost Dr. Dre to Eminem”

Interscope head honcho Jimmy Iovine gave an interesting interview to Billboard explaining the delay behind all those 4th albums we were promised (50, Eminem, Dre, etc). He made an interesting point which I absolutely agree with: “Labels need to work with artists to help them achieve their best work, not to jam records out that are half-baked or three-quarters baked.”

As for Eminem’s album being pushed back:

” I’ll tell you about Eminem. We only tried to put him out this year to replace Dr. Dre, but we got into a quagmire. Eminem was always coming next year. But what happened was, I lost Dr. Dre to Eminem. Dre had to stop making his album to finish Eminem’s album. Eminem hit a streak, and when a guy like Eminem gets on fire, you stop everything. That’s how we lost Dre.”

The moral of the story? Eminem is more important than Dr. Dre.

Beats by Dre is a rip-off

So I finally got a chance to test-drive Beats by Dre at Best Buy earlier today and I have to say, the whole thing is ass backwards. You should’ve seen the face of a Best Buy associate when he saw me scribbling in my notepad.

To be fair, the sound quality is OK with decent bass production and warm mids. That said, it’s not the best headset in the world. I had trouble fitting the beats on my head to begin with. One of the headphones was broken, with wires hanging out. Once I finally placed a working pair on my head, I found it annoying that the right-ear cup rattled a bit. Stylish they are, comfortable they’re not. I also don’t like that Beats require 3 AAA batteries at all times.

If you have a recession-proof wallet and don’t mind dropping $350 on fancy headphones, this may be for you. But if you’re looking for quality sound and noise abatement in one piece, your $350 could be better spent elsewhere. And you might even have some change left to spare on an iPod.

Oh yeah, you’ll have to cough up $350 for one of these bad boys at Best Buy. Or you can save your gas and buy directly from beatsbydre.com.

Are You Still Holding out for Detox?

Bishop Lamont recently played guest host on Current TV’s Daily Fix, where he dropped some skinny on Dr. Dre’s oft-delayed longplayer, Detox.

“Your best is not good enough for this dude [Dr. Dre]. You have to impress God. Jesus has to call you and say ‘That’s amazing’. That’s how he works. “

Seven years and still no sign of Detox. Is anyone still eagerly anticipating this thing?

[PS: If you've just returned from a 4-year trip overseas and had never heard of Bishop Lamont, get started with his Caltroit Mixtape]
