Eminem Is the Candyman

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Don’t be fooled by Eminem’s caustic disposition, he’s really a sugary 8-pound candyman on the inside. Artist Enrique Ramos has crafted a portrait of the Detroit MC from more than 1,000 individual M&M’s that measures 40 inches by 30 inches.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! liked the 8-pound candy portrait so much that they purchased it for an undisclosed amount. It will now grace the halls of Ripley’s odditorium.

Says Tim O’Brien, VP of communications for Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Our customers have a pretty good eye for art. They won’t be disappointed by Eminem in M&M’s. “This thing looks good enough to eat.” I can’t speak for all Eminem fans, but I won’t be having an 8-pound Eminem for dinner anytime soon. No, thank you.

The M&M portrait joins an oddity art collection that includes Princess Diana made from lint and Michael Jackson done in gumballs.

Eminem Finally Agrees His Beats Are Terrible

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I know you’re on the edge of your seat right now. For safety sake, please move back a little bit. The new buzz around Eminem’s new album is that Dr. Dre is producing damn near the whole album. There, take a sigh of relief. Ahhh….

Em said: “Obviously his beats are insane but aside from that I can rap, I can write and not worry about what the beat has to sound like and how loud a snare drum is. All those things are taken care of for me. I feel like a spoilt rapper. I get to pick and choose everything.”

That’s a concession right there, Ladies and Gentlemen. By relinquishing the reins of production to Dre, who is only 2nd to DJ Premier as the G.P.O.A.T. (in my terribly biased opinion, of course), Em pretty much affirms what we’ve been saying for years — that he really needs to stick to rap. Thanks, Slim. I am now officially looking forward to Relapse.

Eminem’s ‘Relapse’ is for Real

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Eminem suspended his self-imposed solitary confinement to organize a release party for his new book, Eminem: The Way I Am. The fact that Em is making public appearances again can only mean one thing: The Relapse is for real.

See a few more Kodak moments after the cut.

Eminem - “I’m Having a Relapse”

Eminem is back, people. Em made an unexpected announcement on Shade45 saying that his new album is titled Relapse. So, dead all that King Mathers nonsense. The good news is that Dr. Dre will be handling most of the production.

Eminem and Masta Ace Trade Verses on Shade 45

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Eminem does a Brokeback version of “Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” at the beginning of the interview. He then talks about the “Slaughtahouse” remix he did for Delicious Vinyl’s 20th anniversary compilation. The craziest part is when Masta Ace spits Eminem’s classic verse from “Hellbound.”

Obie Trice Dumps Shady Records (Or is it the other way around?)

Monday, June 30th, 2008

obie trice
There’s a new song from Obie Trice called “Giant” that has been floating around the net lately. Trice reveals on that song that he’s finally dug himself out of the trenches of Shady Records. (When was the last time anyone dropped an album on Shady?)

Sample Lyrics:

“No more Shady. Maybe it was meant for me to branch out from a Caucasian friend. No more 2nd place to Eminem. If I Was 2nd is the question of many men. No disrespect to Em; he is 1st. Anything after, research the verses.”

Frankly, the song is terrible. Rambling, unimaginative lyrics is not how I remember Obie Trice. What happened to the clearheaded, funky fresh lyricist we once knew as O. Trice? Maybe he just needs time to gather his thoughts. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about the motives behind his exit in the weeks ahead.

Eminem in the Studio

Masta Ace - “Slaughtahouse” Remix (Prod. by Eminem)

No, that’s not a typo. Delicious Vinyl asked Eminem if he could possibly take a break from prank-calling legends and whip up a remix of Masta Ace’s “Slaughtahouse” for their Rmxxology campaign. He gladly obliged. Anyone who’s familiar with Eminem’s catalog knows that Ace had a gargantuan influence on his style. You’ve gotta hand it to Slim, he never hesitates to pay homage.

Delicious Vinyl’s Rmxxology drops on July 29th, 2008, featuring remixes to classic rap songs, like “Passin’ Me By,” “Runnin’,” and “Sittin’ on Chrome.”

Eminem Pranks LL Cool J

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

LL Cool J
LL Prank

Eminem called into a Shade45 show and prank-called LL Cool J. I swear, Em has too much time on his hands. I didn’t even realize how much of an LL fan he was.
