Get Asher Roth on the phone, we need to talk about Track 6 on Asleep in the Bread Aisle. Estelle was on the original version of the song, but was quietly cut and replaced by Keri Hilson at the last minute. What’s wrong, Asher? Did Keri put a spell on you? Was Estelle’s hair too nappy for you?

Seriously, this is nothing new. It’s commonplace in the industry to switch artists for business reasons, which they often masquerade as creative reasons. Keri is poppin’ right now. People have already forgotten about Estelle’s album. You may recall that Snoop swapped Akon for Nate Dogg on “Boss’ Life”; Kanye replaced John Legend’s beautifully-sung version of “Coming Home” with Chris Martin’s “Homecoming”; and The Roots dumped Jill Scott in favor of Erykah Badu on “You Got Me,” even though Scott penned the chorus. So, yeah, it happens.

If by some chance you happen to be the only one alive tomorrow after the Large Hadron Collider experiment, you can catch Kidz in the Hall’s “Love Hangover” video on TRL. “Love Hangover,” which features the super talented Estelle, is the 2nd video from Kidz In The Hall’s Duck Down debut, The In Crowd.

I’ll have it here on The Rap Up as well for those of you who despise MTV so much. I don’t blame you though. I’d rather hang out with Pat Buchanan than watch TRL.

Estelle gave a stunning rendition of “American Boy” on David Letterman last night.

And by big shoes I mean Lauryn’s size 15 high-heels.

Estelle aka the Second Coming of Lauryn Hill says in the current issue of Bleu magazine that she doesn’t mind being likened to L’Boogie.

“I think they compare me to her (Lauryn Hill) because I’m dark-skinned and I sing and rap. But, if they’re saying the music is just as great, then compare me all day because I’ll be really happy about that.”

Estelle is not on Lauryn’s level yet, but she’s definitely the next best thing.
