Cam’ron Officially Disbands Dipset

A moment of silence, please. It is with gratitude and joy that I announce the untimely demise of Dipset. Cam’ron has officially declared the end of the group he helped pioneer in the early 90s, despite the growing public clamor for more in-fighting among its members. “To keep it 100, Dipset is Dipset, but it’s over and they got to get over it.”

Exercising the power vested upon him by the Capo Jim Jones, Killa Cam declared the official permanent disbandment of Dipset. It shall henceforth cease to exist.

Lil Wayne Will Not Sit and Watch This Music Industry Die

Print

Lil Wayne can’t take it anymore. He’s tired of watching music sales plummet, so he must intervene with his unique brand of rock music, which is superior to all music. Rebirth, Wayne’s oft-delayed rap-rock foray, has now been given a December 15 release date, according to Examiner.com. The album was originally scheduled to hit shelves in 2008 but it was pushed back repeatedly to give Overlord Wayne enough time to put finishing touches on his monumental project.

Also, there’s speculation that Weezy, who has an astronomical following among teenage white girls, might make a third consecutive appearance on Robin Thicke’s new album, Sex Therapy.

“We’re kind of good luck charms for each other,” Thicke told MTV. “So I definitely want to get him on there to keep the good luck alive.”

Pause.

Method Man’s New Gig: The Mortician

method_man

Method Man will appear in the upcoming film The Mortician 3D, billed as a gritty, urban drama. The plot is based on one man’s struggle through the violence and corruption of a dying inner city. Like any other Mortician, this guy processes corpses with a stone cold demeanor. Before long, he infects everyone else through his emotionless actions. The $6 million project is set to start filming this month in Louisiana, under the watchful eyes of Rhys Thomas. Other cast members include Angelic Zambrana, Tom Hardy, and Edward Furlong.

Judge Slaps Lil Boosie with Double Jail Sentence

Lil Boosie violated the terms of his probation, so a Louisiana judge decided to double his jail sentence. Boosie was originally scheduled to serve two years of a ten-year suspended sentence after being hit with a third-offense marijuana possession charge in September. The charges stemmed from an October 2008 arrest where police confiscated marijuana and a gun from Boosie’s car.

All the charges combined could have kept him in the big house for 25 years, but Boosie accepted a plea deal under the conditions that he would cancel all his concert dates and remain at home under electronic surveillance. When an ankle monitor indicated that he had violated the terms of his parole by leaving his home more than once, Louisiana District Court Judge Chip Moore immediately revoked his deal and doubled his sentence to four years in jail. Ouch!

In other news, Ozone publisher Julia Beverly has some Lil Boosie verses available for sale. But look before you leap. Beverly has come under fire for “scamming” rappers who inquired about tracks in the past.

Teens Arrested for Rapping Order at McDonald’s

A couple of teenage kids were arrested for rapping their order to McDonalds, even though they were only reenacting what they saw on Micky D’s commercial. This gives a whole new meaning to the expression “will rap for food.”

BREAKING! Rapper Plies Not a Real Life Goon

Plies_(goon)

Jamie Foxx, who may or may not be a real life date-rapist, recently told a funny story about rapper Plies. The story goes: Jamie and Plies are shooting a music video in L.A. 30 goons (yeah, Jamie says he counted 30) arrive on the set, presumably to confront Plies. Scared off his feet, Plies disappears into the bathroom. OMG! Plies did not stand his ground and fight 30 people? Wait, are you implying that Plies’ lyrics may not be a direct reflection of his lifestyle? That he’s not a real life goon? Damn, I’m sorely disappointed. Next you’re going to tell me that Rick Ross wasn’t really a drug kingpin.

Anyway, pop the lid for Jamie’s “bathroom” story. It’s juicy.

CNN Pronunciation Fail – What’s a “Shamillionaire”?

CNN anchor Tom Dubois Don Lemon invited Jeff Lange (aka DigiJeff) to discuss a bet he waged with Chamillionaire. Apparently, DigiJeff told Chamillionaire he’d jump off a plane if Cham’s single “Good Morning” reached #1 on iTunes. Problem is, Lemon couldn’t get the name right and no one bothered to correct his pronunciation cues. This is the same guy that called Nas a gangsta rapper just weeks ago. Don Lemon needs to add hip-hop to his music diet if he insists on discussing rappers on his show. It doesn’t hurt to familiarize yourself with the subject you’re reporting on. Isn’t that what news organizations are supposed to do? Oh wait, CNN isn’t news either, it’s entertainment.

Hip-Hop Vending Machine

hip hop vending machine

The folks at Audio Porn spotted this hip-hop-themed vending machine in Berlin over the weekend. I’m not sure what else you can buy from it besides the action figures. Naturally, the 50 Cent ones are priced at 50 cents.
