TRU Brain Trust Debates the Best MC in Slaughterhouse

slaughterhouse-artwork

Slaughterhouse may be the first hip-hop group with no real weak link. Joell, Royce, Joey, and Crooked are all capable of holding down an entire album. Together, they’re deadly. So, rather than debate the weakest link, we decided to debate the strongest. Joell Ortiz – “Food for Thought” Video

Directed by Court Dunn

This is one of the most creative hip-hop videos I’ve seen all year, Dunn’s rudimentary approach notwithstanding. It goes to show that you don’t need a $10 million to deliver a great product, just good ol’ creative imagination.

Photos From Slaughterhouse’s “One” Video Shoot

Ortiz Is Sleeping

The boys from Slaughterhouse are putting their first music video together from their upcoming, self-titled release set to come out August 11, 2009. Welcome to the Slaughterhouse, enter at your own risk. Read the rest of this entry »

Hit up the mp3 link above for the audio version.

Freebie Friday: Joell Ortiz & Termanology – Carry the Torch Mixtape

A friend of mine who happens to be a respected journalist surprised me 3 days ago when he asked: “Dude, do you think Termanology is worth a shit?” “Are you serious?” I replied, “He’s one of the freshest “new” rappers around.” My boy wrote back to say that he wasn’t a big fan. I insisted that he should at least listen to Term and let me know what he thought.

Dude hit me up again later that evening with a different opinion. “I would like to change my aforementioned opinion of Termanology,” he said. “He’s dope.” Read the rest of this entry »

Fokis + Joel Ortiz = Pandemonium

Fokis & Joel Ortiz – Pandemonium | Clean | Dirty

My homegirl Mel just shot me this joint from Fokis and Joel Ortiz, from Fokis’ upcoming album Road to Riches album. This is what happens when you put two hungry MCs in the same room.
