Nas: “Drake is like fresh water”

drake-cant-believe-it-either

Nas has just snuggled up to the coziest seat on the increasingly crowded Drake bandwagon. In an interview with Omaha World-Herald, Esco was quoted as saying that hip-hop is “always looking for that one artist that changes rap into another direction and makes all the other artists follow.” He described Young Drizzy as that next guy. How original?

First the Fat Boys Break up…

kanyeramber

In Day 2 of Yeezy-watch 2009, I just heard the upsetting rumor that Kanye and Amber broke up. I’ve always said that if they can’t make it work, then maybe no one can! All sarcasm aside, this upsets me for three reasons:

  1. Kanye finally found someone who could keep up with his level of crazy
  2. Rumor has it that this stems from an affair with Cassidy (Really, Amber?)
  3. Nas and Kelis are just entering the nasty part of the divorce proceedings.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Bobbito Says Dead Jam Would’ve Passed on Nas

When Bobbito speaks, hip-hop listens. But it wasn’t always that way. Back when Def Jam was still relevant, 50 million years ago, then A&R Bobbito begged Russell Simmons to sign Akinyele and Organized Konfusion, but Rush turned a deaf ear on the two future greats. So, when Nas’ demo tape came down the pipeline, Bobbito assumed that Def Jam would find him too technical for radio. In conclusion, we have Bobbito to thank for Nas’ extensive and illustrious rap career.

Nas - I Have To

Nasir - I Have To

Whoa hey, it’s Nasir rhyming about space aliens or something. “You never lose women chasing money, but you lose money chasing women.” No sh_t, Sherlock.

Nas + Marsha Ambrosius - “If I Ruled The World ‘09″

Nas + Marsha Ambrosius - “If I Ruled The World ‘09″ (Smirnoff Remix)
Smirnoff has decided to revisit Nas’ classic single, “If I Ruled the World,” with Marsha Ambrosius (formerly of Floetry) replacing the legendary Lauryn Hill, because, apparently, the original version didn’t have enough cowbell. Hey Smirnoff, stick to making sugar water!

It’s A Boy

Nas has revealed that Destiny’s going to have a baby brother soon. As you know, he and Kelis are expecting their first son.

Sez Nasir:

“Personally, life is good. I’m sure that y’all heard K (Kelis) is expecting. The internet seems to be more excited than I am. It’s crazy! I got too much to think about, and I didn’t wanna leave all my fans out the loop. But I wanted to let y’all know from me personally that I’m having my first SON!!!!”

Nas and Kelis got married in 2006. If my math is correct, that means Jay-Z and Beyonce will toss one in the oven by 2011.

In other news, Nas and Damien Marley are supposedly cooking up a collaborative album due this Spring. Which, in industry lingo, could mean anywhere from April 2009 to December 2010.

Nas Strongly Committed to Pissing Off DJ Premier

After being informed by his weed carriers that Premier thinks his beat selection is shitty, your favorite gangsta rapper Nas decided to brag about doing a song for Dr. Dre’s mysterious album, Detox. He then proceeded to crown Dre (not DJ Premier) as the greatest producer of all time.

“I did a joint. I think it’s crazy,” Nas says of his potential contribution to Detox. “[Dr. Dre's] someone I’d love to do a whole album with one day. He’s incredible. I think he’s the best producer of all time.” [HipHopDX]

Hey Nas, Primo is the greatest producer of all time. Clearly, this is written in the dictionary.

Nas - The Fear of Mandingo

Nas - The Fear of Mandingo
Here’s a great new track from Nas, who will probably get dropped from Def Jam for being too intelligent. If you have the balls to give this a spin, an incredibly thought-provoking discussion on America’s biggest nightmare will be all yours. FYI: “The Fear of Mandingo” (p.k.a. “Fear of A Black Man’s D*ck”) was secretly excised from Nas’ Nigger untitled album. Click at your own peril.

Rare Notorious B.I.G. & Nas Freestyle (1995)

For all you noobs who may have doubted Frank White’s mic skills, watch him wreck it alongside Nas, Method Man, and I think I saw Jungle’s wack ass in there somewhere.
