Reader Poll: Should Andrew Be DJ AM For Halloween?

1

Now for those of you who don’t know who Andrew Schweizer is, he’s the very successful, very disease free gentleman standing by the mini-bar who happens to do a little bit of writing for your favorite neighborhood rap blog. And that being said Andrew’s come up with quite the late September notion: he wants to go as the late DJ AM for Halloween. Now before the sabre rattling begins we here at The Rap Up wanted to ask our readers what they thought about his idea – and considering that Andrew’s agreed to respect the wishes of our loyal Trubians your input will determine whether or not he goes as DJ AM to his Halloween party this year. Age Ain’t Nuthin’ But A Number

55292554

With the release of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, the internet and the streets have been asking the same question over and over again – is Jay-Z too old to be rapping? This isn’t a new question at all in hip-hop. Whenever someone that’s deemed to be old school (LL Cool J, any of the WuTang Clan members, Rakim, etc.) releases a new project, the hip-hop community always tends to pit them against new, younger rappers. While determining whether or not an older rapper is still relevant and still has their chops is still a valid question to debate, I wonder why our community isn’t looking more at the rapper’s skills and chooses instead to look at their age. Let’s debate, shall we? Read the rest of this entry »

Rockets’ Carl Landry Shot in Houston

After posting an all around great game against the Hornets last night, Carl Landry returned to Houston only to be greeted by gunshots. According to the Houston Chronicle, Landry suffered a gunshot wound to his left calf after being shot in downtown Houston earlier today. The Rockets front office called it a random act of violence.

“We are very thankful and relieved that Carl’s injuries were relatively minor and that he is doing well,” Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey said in a statement. “Carl was the victim of an apparent random act of violence early this morning after the team arrived from New Orleans. We are in the process of working with authorities to gather more information.”

The story goes that Landry was driving around 4:20 a.m. when another car bumped his vehicle. As he stepped out of his car to inspect the damage, two shots rang from the other vehicle. The second shot hit him in the leg. Landry’s fine for now, but he’s expected to miss about 3 weeks of action.

Let me find out someone from the Big Easy wasn’t too happy about last night’s loss and decided to take out his frustration on our 2nd best Power Forward. Luis Scola better beef up his security detail.
