Raekwon – Catalina [Music Video]
Sorry Chef, but this was my least favorite track on the otherwise brilliant Cuban Linx 2.
Sorry Chef, but this was my least favorite track on the otherwise brilliant Cuban Linx 2.
Between our last Brain Trust session and my Cuban Linx 2 review, Chef’s new album has been on mind a lot lately. In fact, I just caught myself listening to “10 Bricks” on repeat yesterday. Yes, “10 Bricks” is one of my favorite songs on Cuban Linx 2. And that was before I even found out that the mastermind behind the beat is the one sound architect I’d bring back to life if I had the power of Hesus. Which brings me to my next question.
What’s the best song on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II?

It took a little over a decade, but Raekwon finally released a follow-up to his classic debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. I rounded up your friendly TRU Brain Trust for a special purple session. Grab a seat, roll up a fat one, and join the conversation.

If you’re anything like Ivan and Enigmatik you’re probably too busy digesting Rae’s brilliant new LP, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, round the clock. When you’re done with that, please pause for 3 minutes and sink your teeth in this tasty leftover from Chef’s kitchen.
[Raise a purple canister to Enigmatik]

Not to be outdone by Blueprint III, Chef’s album has also made its Innanet debut ahead of schedule. The rest is between you and Google.

Raekwon – School (Feat. Mean Doe Green)
Nope. Not another Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 leak. I’ve placed those and the Blueprint 3 leaks on a moratorium. Anyhoo, “School” is taken from DJ Fresh’s upcoming album, The Tonite Show, due out September 15. Rae sounds sharply focused on this one.

Behold the official music clip for Rae’s “House of Flying Daggers,” starring Inspectah Deck, GZA, Ghostface Killah and Method Man, with and intro from RZA, produced by Dilla Dawg.
And the Cuban Linx 2 vs Blueprint 3 buzz battle rages on.

Raekwon – 10 Bricks (Feat. Ghostface & Cappadonna)
I’ve resigned to the reality that all the tracks from Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 will leak one by one before its September due date. Not that anyone’s complaining here, but I’d rather digest the album in its entirety than get fragments of the work. I’m terribly bored of the leak battle between Rae’s camp and Jay’s camp. All this does is detract from the overall album experience. I want the full motion picture, not isolated random scenes damnit.
