Here’s the GOAT Rakim giving the Ruby Skye crowd a whirlwind tour of his enviable catalog. Ra performed gems like “Paid In Full” and “I Know You Got Soul” as if it was ‘88 all over again.

Rakim’s The Seventh Seal is probably the most anticipated hip-hop album of the fall. The question on everyone’s mind has been, “Which Rakim will show up on this album — the ol’ skool lyrical Rakim or a revamped MC with a new school flavor?” Luckily, the folks at Conspiracy Worldwide managed to get their hands on The Seventh Seal and were kind enough to share. Rakim has spent the last 20 million years teasing and talking about a new album. First it was Oh My God, a collaboration with Dr. Dre that never made it out of the studio. Then it was The Seventh Seal. Actually, he barely talks about his new album these days. I know, I just contradicted myself. However, if you consider that Jay-Z has given more interviews this year than Ra has given in the last 4 years combined then you’ll understand. And if you’re fortunate enough to chase him down for an interview, he’s usually tight-lipped about details.
I should know, I was one of the few recipients of a Rakim interview. Back then, Ra almost swore in the name of Eric B’s godforsaken gold chain that he had a single scheduled for fall and an album soon after. I’ve changed my calendar three times and we’re still waiting.
Rakim is back with another interview, in which he swears he has a new single, “Holy Are You,” slated to drop on July 28th and an album to follow. Excerpts of his Billboard interview below:

It sure feels good to hear the GOAT on the mic again. This is one of four previously unreleased songs on Live, Lost, & Found. The only excuse not to cop this on March 4 is being broke.

You might remember this from Ra’s 2006 VH-1 performance. I was upset when he came to Houston that year ’cause his tour DJ, Kid Capri, had left the instrumentals in another city.
Not really feeling this, but I’m looking forward to the GOAT’s comeback.
