Rakim Hasn’t Lost a Step [Video]

Here’s the GOAT Rakim giving the Ruby Skye crowd a whirlwind tour of his enviable catalog. Ra performed gems like “Paid In Full” and “I Know You Got Soul” as if it was ‘88 all over again.

If you’re in the Houston area, you can catch Rakim, Rhymefest, and Three 6 Mafia at the House of Blues on November 3rd. If you’re in other parts of the States, proceed to see the remaining tour dates.

Listen to Rakim’s ‘Seventh Seal’ Album in Full [Audio]

RakimCover

Rakim’s The Seventh Seal is probably the most anticipated hip-hop album of the fall. The question on everyone’s mind has been, “Which Rakim will show up on this album — the ol’ skool lyrical Rakim or a revamped MC with a new school flavor?” Luckily, the folks at Conspiracy Worldwide managed to get their hands on The Seventh Seal and were kind enough to share. Listen to the album below and sound off.

Rakim – Walk These Streets [mp3]
Now this would’ve been a better choice for The Seventh Seal album cover. Nothing against the snuggie, just saying. Hey, why does it sound like there are holes in my speakers?

Rakim’s 7th Seal Album Cover Was Here

omg

Here’s the official artwork for Rakim’s upcoming album, The 7th Seal, which is now scheduled to drop on October 20, 2009.

Update: Sorry, Ra’s label stuck a pellet gun to my head and popped the cover. I’ll update you with the super official version when it leaks.

Every Dose is Highly EXPLOSIVE

My tarot reading tells me that you walked in here praying, “Man, I wish Riz could just play us out with a gem from the GOAT.” Consider your path enlightened and your prayers answered. You’re welcome.

I’ll Believe It When I Hear It

rakim-allah-rocking-the-mic

Rakim has spent the last 20 million years teasing and talking about a new album. First it was Oh My God, a collaboration with Dr. Dre that never made it out of the studio. Then it was The Seventh Seal. Actually, he barely talks about his new album these days. I know, I just contradicted myself. However, if you consider that Jay-Z has given more interviews this year than Ra has given in the last 4 years combined then you’ll understand. And if you’re fortunate enough to chase him down for an interview, he’s usually tight-lipped about details.

I should know, I was one of the few recipients of a Rakim interview. Back then, Ra almost swore in the name of Eric B’s godforsaken gold chain that he had a single scheduled for fall and an album soon after. I’ve changed my calendar three times and we’re still waiting.

Rakim is back with another interview, in which he swears he has a new single, “Holy Are You,” slated to drop on July 28th and an album to follow. Excerpts of his Billboard interview below:

Rakim – Love 4 Sale

rakimllfound.jpg

It sure feels good to hear the GOAT on the mic again. This is one of four previously unreleased songs on Live, Lost, & Found. The only excuse not to cop this on March 4 is being broke.

Rakim – It’s Nothing

Rakim – “It’s Nothing” (Produced by DJ Static)

You might remember this from Ra’s 2006 VH-1 performance. I was upset when he came to Houston that year ’cause his tour DJ, Kid Capri, had left the instrumentals in another city.

Not really feeling this, but I’m looking forward to the GOAT’s comeback.
