Remy Ma is serving an 8-year bid for shooting her girlfriend in the abdomen, but she’s launched an appeal to overturn the sentence. While the jail-bound femcee is not due for parole until September of 2014, she wants to go home just in time for Christmas.

Remy Ma was sentenced in May on charges of assault, weapons possession, and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes Joseph in the abdomen back in July 2007. She claimed that the shooting was an accident. The jury told her she needs more people.

Now, her lawyers are claiming the trial was riddled with mistakes by the judge, including the claim that Remy Ma was unfairly prejudiced by the inclusion of unrelated details about an August 2007 attack on her victim’s boyfriend.

Tip got off easy. Remy Ma wasn’t so lucky.

According to the International Herald Tribune, Remy Ma left the Manhattan courtroom today in tears, having been convicted of assault, weapon possession, and attempted coercion. She may face anywhere from 10 to 25 years. We’ll know the verdict on April 23.

She quietly wiped away tears as the verdict was read, then wailed loudly and sobbed openly after she was outside the courtroom. Many of her supporters also cried.

She should’ve hollered at T.I.’s lawyers.

“I’m gon’ Ether her like Nas did Hova when I see her/Then come back like Hov and Takeover when I see her”

It’s not a diss song, it’s just a real song. Kim, you better run and go hire a bodyguard; Remy has a reputation for being a sharp-shooter.
