The Rizoh’s Radio series has had a great run, but it’s time to retire this feature. RR 44 will be the final installment of the series which debuted 3 years ago. Maybe I’ll launch something else in its place. Maybe I’ll start a podcast. Maybe I won’t. Whatever the case, I’m sure you’ll appreciate the effort that went into compiling and sequencing these playlists.

Anyone familiar with Charles Darwin’s “natural selection” can see how this theory directly applies to the music industry, particularly hip-hop. Since the music environment is unable to support unlimited growth, not all artists get to showcase their full potential. With variation, differential traits, and a healthy dose of buzz, survival by natural selection becomes an inevitable outcome. Survival of the fittest, if you may. On so many levels, this playlist attempts to capture that struggle for existence.

Funny how situations sometimes find a way to sort themselves out. For RR 31, I was going to drop about 15 – 20 (instead of 31) songs for lack of sufficient quality material. But in the last couple of days of working on the compilation, a flurry of hot new songs started raining like confetti.
