Soulja Boy Vs. Charles Hamilton

Friday, December 12th, 2008

There’s no need to comment on this feud, since it should be obvious who’s the better MC here. That said, I wonder if Hamilton realizes that by saying “I’m you last year with talent” he’s giving Soulja Boy a pat on the back. Soulja Boy has never claimed to be a super duper lyricist … well, he did once but I’m 99.99% sure he was joking. Instead of saying “I’m You Last Year with Talent,” Hamilton should’ve said: “I’m You Last Year without Dance Skills” or “I’m You Last Month without Slave Master Shoutout.”

As for Hamilton’s motivation for dissing Soulja Boy, hear him tell it:

“My whole fanbase are saying to murder the kid on a track. The Hamilton Administration says play it to my favor. The hood says leave him alone, he’s just a kid. The haters are starting campaigns against me, I guess to vote me out the industry.”

“Soulja Boy is gonna be on the cover of XXL supposedly in the next month. Has an album dropping 12/16. This has got to be a dream come true for someone who’s lyrical capabilities are that of a Blackberry without a battery, SIM card or buttons to push. And I TOTALLY respect his money makin hustle.”

  • Trae on Mike Jones Knockout: “I did it for Houston”

    Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Mike Jones had his nose bloodied at last night’s Ozone Awards, thanks to Trae’s knuckles. Watch as Trae reveals the motivation behind the knockout punch that made Mike Jones more popular than he’d like to be. I don’t condone this type of violence, but Trae Vs. Mike Jones is truly a mismatch — physically and musically.

I have all the respect in the world for both artists, but this wasn’t necessary.

    Video: Game Disses G-Unit Again

    Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Game takes aim at G-Unit, referencing Terminate on Sight’s pathetic Soundscan figures. Game is like that old girlfriend that just never lets go. As soon as it seems like everyone has moved on, kapow! Ex-girl shows up again.

Shots Fired: GZA - “Paper Plate” (50 Cent Diss)

    GZA Paper Plate
GZA - “Paper Plate” (50 Cent Diss)
“Stop sipping on that Formula 50. They want heat? I give it to ‘em burnt and crispy”

GZA goes hard at 50 Cent on “Paper Plate,” a new track from his upcoming album, Protools. For the unitiated, 50 was talking greasy about GZA last December, saying he’s too old and whatnot. “You were born in 1966,” 50 said back then. “Listen, I have an old school Chevy Impala your age.”

So, GZA decided to battle him the old-fashioned way: on wax. He’s pretty much saying, “Look, you may have all the money, but I will pwn you rhyme for rhyme.” Even though I thought this was a polite diss, I don’t see Boo Boo being able to top it.

And GZA didn’t even have to use a single cuss word.

Shaq Just Gave Kobe Another Championship

    Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

I have all the respect in the world for Shaq Fu, one of the greatest Centers to ever do it. Having said that, he didn’t have to bring up bygone sentiments the way he did at that nightclub. Everyone knows Shaq was a major factor in all those Laker championships. Duh, why else was he named Finals MVP for 3 consecutive years?

Saying, “Kobe couldn’t do it without me” will only motivate Bryant to go out and get it. Next season, Kobe will win a championship and I won’t be surprised if he drops a diss on Shaq.

By the way, the USA Olympic men’s basketball team was announced yesterday. See the roster below.

ICe T vs Soulja Boy: Guess Who Kanye’s Riding With?

    Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

    Ice T and Coco

I’ve been trying to ignore this whole Ice T vs. Soulja Boy brouhaha for a while, but it just won’t go away. In case you’re just returning from vacation overseas, the beef started when Ice T remarked that Soulja Boy “single-handedly killed hip-hop” in addition to telling him to “eat a d*ck.” Soulja Boy deferred to his usual response to older rappers, “N*gga you old as hell…you was born before the Internet was made…” Actually, I’m not doing Soulja Boy’s response any justice. He straight-up ethered Ice T. (Watch all the videos below.)

Kanye West weighed in on the beef via his blog yesterday. You won’t believe who he’s riding with on this one.

Shots Fired: Lil Wayne vs. Al Sharpton

    Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Lil Wayne’s 7-minute tirade on “Misunderstood” about Sharpton is stirring up a wild storm. As if that’s not what it was intended for.
