Video: The Roots - “How I Got Over” Live On Jimmy Fallon

The Legendary Roots Crew premiered the title track from their new album, How I Got Over, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It’s a very dope track if you ask me, cool James Brown vibe and if you caught Tariq’s live rendition of Curtis Mayfield’s ‘Move On Up‘ anywhere last year, his decent singing chops won’t come as too much of a surprise. Too bad nobody from the Def Jam offices noticed.

Did The Roots Steal Jimmy Fallon’s Thunder?

Slow Jammin’ the News was the best part of last night’s Late Night episode, with Justin Timberlake’s John Mayer impression/Bud Light song a close second. They had a Lick It for 10 bit which wasn’t funny at all. There was also the Demographic Target segment about blond mothers which came out flat. Robert Deniro looked like he was ready to strangle Jimmy at some point. In Fallon’s defense, though, this whole TV thing takes time to get used to. After all, he’s only been doing it for 17 years.

The Roots of The Roots

The Roots have come a long way, from playing on street corners to selling out arenas in countries I can hardly pronounce without a dictionary. The Grammy-winning band is now set to conquer the teevee industry as Jimmy Fallon’s “Late Night” house band. As we get ready to witness The Roots’ “Late Night” debut tonight, let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit a time when ?uestlove rapped (yes, rapped) under the alias Brother Question and walked around with a midget on his head.

The Roots Gotta Eat

The Roots have their hands full as the backing band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The Philly boys are cooking up 200 “sandwiches,” rehearsing like crazy, and trying to define Black Thought’s new role. Oh, and someone has to pay for all this. Proceed for an excerpt from their recent interview with Philly.com. Read the rest of this entry »

Tired of pandering to OkayPlayer crowd, the Roots are now vying for support from Yo Gabba Gabba watchers everywhere. Their latest video finds ?uesto and company performing “Lovely, Love My Family” for the Nick Jr. network. It’s funny and pleasant at the same time.
