Statik Selektah’s Stick 2 the Script Looks Great on Paper

Judging by the tracklist for Stick 2 the Script, it has to be an outstanding compilation. A State Prop reunion? Black Rob back from the dead? Joell, Skyzoo and Ortiz on one track? Anything short of great would be considered a failure.

If it disappoints, we can always direct our blame to Statik for setting the bar so high with this gorgeous single. Peep the tracklist and, more importantly, guest list below.

5 New Songs from Large Professor’s Main Source

Being a sucka for 90s hip-hop and the brains behind the music means that Large Pro is on my shortlist of favorite producer-MCs by default. I’m excited to see Extra-P back in action with a new album, Main Source, slated for September 30th. Main Source as you probably guessed is the name of P’s NY rap group that folded up after a slew of hits.

Main Source the album looks to further P’s legacy as an intelligent sound architect. A producer’s producer. P’s rhymes won’t exactly overwork your rewind button, but they work to complement the production perfectly, yielding a thoroughly cohesive body of work. The beats here are as clean and polished as anything Pro has done in the past couple decades. You know you’re good when DJ Premier is giving you credit for teaching him a few production tricks.

Hit up the Main Source swag bag below.

People Under the Stairs – Fun DMC Cover/Tracklist

LA b-boys People Under the Stairs are set to release their 6th album, Fun DMC, slated for September 30th via Gold Dust Records. I hope you don’t need some schooling on the inspiration behind that title. I gather that Fun DMC was prepped and baked entirely in-house, on a custom recording console that Thes One helped design.

PUTS will hit the road soon to promote the album. Check out Fun DMC tracklist and tour schedule after the gap.

Nas – ‘Untitled’ Tracklist

nas untitled

Inasmuch as I’d love to tell you that this is the super-official tracklist because it’s label-approved, nothing is carved in stone as far as major releases go. At any rate, you’re welcome to throw a glance at the blueprint of Nas’ untitled album. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Tha Carter III’ Tracklist

In keeping with my policy of not commenting on albums based on their tracklist, I’ll go ‘head and cross my fingers on this one. Having said that, I couldn’t help but notice track 2, “Mr. Carter,” featuring the real Carter. Shawn Carter. The same Carter that Weezy has been obsessed with for the last 5 years. It’s smart of him to usher in that big name collaboration so early on the album, because that’s the only way to ensure that the other songs get heard in full. But if it’s anything like “Hello Brooklyn 2.0″…

Tha Carter III tracklist after the gap. Read the rest of this entry »
