LL Cool J - “Mr. President” Music Video

It’s unusual to see Uncle Todd wax political, but Ladies and Gentlemen, this is no ordinary time. This is no ordinary election. That said, this video is about 4 years too late. Kinda reminds me of that time Eminem dropped “Mosh” a few days before the 2004 presidential election.

LL Cool J: “Def Jam Minus Jay-Z Feels Like New Lakers”

Uncle Todd compared the new Def Jam administration to the refurbished Lakers crew in the recent issue of Billboard magazine. This past season, Lakers brought in Pau Gasol as an able supplement to their one-man attacking machine, Kobe Bryant. Jay-Z, you might recall, resigned as Def Jam prez last December. Shakir Stewart was hired to replace him (well, sort of).

Uncle Todd was asked about his beef with Jay-Z for the umpteenth time. For the first time, he had something disturbing (albeit interesting) to say.

“Regarding my comments about Def Jam, if I make the world’s worst record and you accept it, then your responsibility is to promote it. If you think it’s the world’s worst record and you can’t promote it, then don’t accept it. I never made my views a personal attack on anybody at Def Jam, or tried to degrade anyone’s reputation. I’m just glad that there’s been a regime change. It feels like the new Lakers.

The new Lakers? Eh, this is one comparison LL might want to stay away from. The new Lakers lost the championship to the new Celtics. Then again, it’s possible that he granted this interview back when Lakers were favored to beat the Celts. Magazines usually have crazy editorial lead times that can range anywhere from 1 month to 3 months.

Still, isn’t it time to let bygones be bygones and focus on the future?

Eminem Pranks LL Cool J

LL Cool J
LL Prank

Eminem called into a Shade45 show and prank-called LL Cool J. I swear, Em has too much time on his hands. I didn’t even realize how much of an LL fan he was.

LL Cool J - Girl If I (Feat Trey Songz)

LL Cool J - Girl If I (Feat Trey Songz)

Uncle Todd lays his mack down over an R&B-styled beat, while Trey Songz rides shotgun. “Girl If I” is rumored to be a single from Exit 13, which is probably not the most anticipated album on Def Jam’s Summer Schedule.

Def Jam’s 2008 Summer Schedule

Wonder what the #1 major hip-hop label is cooking up for the Summer? I snuck into Def Jam’s secret safe, via telekinetic movement, to find out. Just for you. Here’s Def Jam’s Summer lineup for 2008.

  • Karina - First Love - August 19th, 2008
16 @ War is a solid single, but Def Jam’s latest songbird will have to drop an entire album’s worth of decent music to win me over.

  • LL Cool J - Exit 13 - July 8th, 2008
Uncle Todd is still bringing that fiyah!, even if his antics are getting a bit annoying.

  • Nas - Nas - July 1st, 2008
Nasir has already gathered significant momentum for this album, so anything short of a classic will probably dent his reputation.

  • Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman - August 8th, 2008
Another Ne-Yo album? Does anyone even remember the last one?

  • Razah - Razah - July 8th, 2008
Razah needs to give Rizoh a shout so we can do a collabo. We’ll have RZA produce it.

  • Rihanna - Good Girl, Gone Bad [CD/DVD] Reloaded - June 17th, 2008
I dug GGGB, but this is a blatant attempt to sell us the same thing twice. Boooo!

  • Young Jeezy - The Recession - July 29th, 2008
    Yeeeeeaaah!

Which ones are you excited about?

Video: LL Getting at Jay?

I have nothing short of respect for uncle Todd (unlike Jim Jones, I don’t disrespect my elders). After all, LL is still No.1 on longevity. But longevity doesn’t sell records or earn you trophies in today’s battleground.

It wasn’t enough to blame Jay-Z for his last album, which tanked heavily, Cool J is now getting all emotional over Jay’s “billy the goat” line from “I Get Money (Forbes 1,2,3 Remix).”

Maybe someone needs to remind uncle Todd that:

1) While he’s definitely in the upper echelons, no one outside of his immediate family really bought into that GOAT claim
2) This isn’t 1987. That was 20 years ago.
3) Jay-Z is no Canibus. Not only is Hov ahead of today’s LL in all the vital categories (except longevity, of course), he’s also become a big enchilada in the game. So, blackballing Jay like he did ‘Bis is definitely not an option in 2007.

In any case, this should be an exciting one, assuming Jay agrees to play. He’s been reluctant about responding to shots lately.
