After shoving his wealth in our face via “I Get Money” and other such bragfests, 50 Cent now has one more reason to indulge in further chest-thumping this year. 50 dethroned Jay-Z to take over as hip-hop’s top earner, as estimated by Forbes. The Top 3 remains unchanged, with three self-ordained Kings of New York leading the pack again this year.

Jeff and Eric of The Real mark their first anniversary alongside Real supporters like Dallas Penn, Eskay, YN, Jay Smooth, and many others. Congrats to the dynamic duo. These fellas have come a long long way from Lloyd Banks’ Retirement Party.
Chicago’s resident hip-hop connoisseur Andrew Barber caught up with Lupe yesterday and asked him how he felt about his older, sometimes unflattering songs leaking on the web. Lu says he’s cool with it, because it saves him the trouble of dropping mixtapes to keep buzz afloat.
Lupe added that he knows who’s been leaking songs like “The Birds & The Bees” and “Gangsta” to the masses. I wonder if Prometheus had anything to do with it.

The part where Barack says “Is that the best you can come up with?” (apparently in response to McCain’s attempt to juxtapose Obama with celebretards like Paris and Britney) is classic.

Termanology must have heard your criticisms the other day, because he’s rhyming as if he’s out to prove a point on this new track.
Term jacks Common’s “Resurrection” and proceeds to make a case for hip-hop’s relevancy while citing a string of rap-related successes. Here’s hoping he can add to the list of positives when Politics As Usual arrives on September 30th.

A friend of mine who happens to be a respected journalist surprised me 3 days ago when he asked: “Dude, do you think Termanology is worth a shit?” “Are you serious?” I replied, “He’s one of the freshest “new” rappers around.” My boy wrote back to say that he wasn’t a big fan. I insisted that he should at least listen to Term and let me know what he thought.
